Hello, has anybody tried to port T3D to google Android platform? Or tried Android project by using Torque game engines?

We want to port T3D to android platform. Does there exist any resources for reference?

Thanks,

Right now I'm studying the Irrlicht engine to see how they are porting their code for Android. Eventually, I'd like to bring both T3D and T2D to Android.

Since the Android is based on Linux, I'll have to pick up WinGDB so that I can debug the apps in Visual Studio (I really don't want to use cygwin if I can help it).

To get you started, you might want to check out are the videos on the Android developers site. There is one that I thought that was a good introduction on the problem called: Bringing C and C++ games to Android which is under the Google I/O 2011 sessions - http://developer.android.com/videos/index.html#v=5yorhsSPFG4

From what I'm seeing so far however, one of the first major tasks that has to be done to make this a reality is to bring OpenGl or more specifically OpenGl ES to T3D and T2D

One thing that I do find exciting about the Android platform is the Honeycomb version of the OS which is geared towards the tablets. Bringing Torque 3D games to these devices should open a tremendous marketplace.

I'll post again when I get further along...

There was a guy who ported T2D to Android, what, last year? Said it was fairly painless - try searching the forums.

I think TGE would be a better candidate than T3D for porting to android. It already renders using OpenGL and can be compiled for linux, whereas T3D with its DirectX only rendering and windows only compilation would be a huge task.

Keep in mind that if you were to do this, it would only be allowable as an experimental hobby project. The EULA for Torque 3D does not allow for commercial use of Torque 3D on any platform other than what is stated in the agreement.

It would be cool to make games you could play with friends on Android Tablets in T3D, or T2D. I'm not interested in selling games or anything, I just like being able to use the stuff I purchase with my own created software, instead of depending on others all the time.

Fight the Power! (plug that is)
