SDK with the demo version?

Hi guys,
Quick question. I was trying out the demo version of Torque 2d (or Torque Game Builder, as the actual binary is called) for Mac. Since there is no Torsion for Mac, I was hoping to get a proper coding environment set up with Xcode. According to the instructions, though, I need the actual SDK to get that set up, and so far as I have been able to tell, I can't get that unless I purchase a license.
Am I correct on this? Is there any way around it? My interest in trialing Torque is mostly focused on using Torque Script, and I don't want to have to test it in a plain text editor with no code completion/hinting.
Am I missing something here? Thanks for your help!
(Note that these comments only apply to Torque 2d, as I haven't even installed the 3d demo yet--if I can't get 2d working satisfactorily, I don't have any interest in 3d either.)
