FoulPlay and I, i should say....
Anyway, just yesterday we started a new level that we agreed to name Pinnacle River!

Here is a low-quality jpg., er, photo.....

Since you guys are starting to create new maps (thanks goodness!), my only suggestion is to not make them too large.

The Frantic map set, for instance, seem to have the largest maps, while Spooky appear to have the smallest maps. frantic is the least popular, while spooky is played a bit more.

I think the lush map size are just fine. Part of why everyone play those.

If the maps are too large, we will tend to lose focus on the game. I don't want to chase a scrum or a wounded tank for like 70 miles, down canyons and up mountains for 3 minutes.

Feedback on Pinnacle River? Sky too dark... Lush-type skies are the best - otherwise we lose visibility, and the game is confusing enough (with tanks flying all around!) to spare us murky background.Otherwise it looks fine, albeit bare. I suppose it's not finished yet.

By the way, thank you guys for designing new maps!!! =) Looking forward to play on some new, classic player-made maps!
Create many ones in order to find a set of classic 4 maps, say the "FP Field of Wrecks"!!!

The purple sky you guys had last night was great. The one above does seem a bit dark.

Good point Hugo on map size.

I like the bigger frantic maps though. Actually I think size wise they're equal to lush. FP I think the key is to get the goals out there.

Yeah, there is bright lighting on the land, with dark clouds...

Timmy's right. When you play, its brighter then it looks. Plus, battling in the river is a riot, cause you can sneak up!

Yes it is bare, were not done it yet.

This will be the smallest map made to date. I bet a heavy could beat a light here.

I have broadband, but it's slow broadband. I get lag with more than 5 ppl, so I only let 5 in. Also keeps the troublemakers out.

Are you doing this the hard way or have you managed
to get an editor to work?

(Hard way= trial and error edit of text file?)

aka "Him"

PS: Devs, cats out of the bag how about opening it up to
all of us?

You won't be able to get the editor to work. The files for it are not even there (AFAIK). (IIRC) Joe said something about releasing it at a later date. So manual editing is the only way to go right now. :)

Are you actually creating NEW maps? I thought the editors were locked out?

I have created new models, and im waiting (hoping) that the scripting/mapping gets unlocked for think tanks someday.

Well, we are well, I can't really get into any details now.
Anyway, me and FP agreed I know enough to finish Pinnacle River by myself (didn't we FP???), and it also means they will be finished faster.

Joe, if ur reading, is there any way to make a new entry for the level select screen? Cause that would be awesome.

So, its in the nature of this community to act all hush-hush about certain info? Or did the devs release the editors to certain individuals?

Nevermind anywho. Time to dump Tribes 1 and 2 altogether and put 100% into hacking away at tt. Hope not to piss too many people off. bbl....

Jason.. the "hacking" you are refering to now is from "mature" players who do not want to ruin the fine product Think Tanks.. they are merely looking for new challenges. The reason they are "hush-hush" is because some members of the community are not so mature.

I dont mean 'hacking' as in 'bad'. The serious 'bad hacking' stuff would be .exe/memory hacks (x-dynamix fellas have seen these), and im not working on stuff like that. Ive been working on stuff like new powerup/health/scrumball models with different animations, just wont be able to easily play those animations without the script-end open (to tie into the *::onAdd functions). I mean 'hacking away' as 'working hard'. And I meant I hoped to not piss off too many T1/T2 people for abandoning those games.

Im not sure I get the 'hush-hush' part because of some being not so mature though? Map editing != cheating. Nor does the info open a window for cheating. Now, if it was something like getting into the tree(), then ya, id keep hush-hush about that, since tree() hacks are easy.

Hope I clarified that. I do not 'word' myself properly most of the time. My wife has been telling me that for 8 years now. HaHa.

I keep it hush because i dont want a bunch of unplayable thrown together maps plugging servers im trying to build quality maps requires a lot of paitients when your doing it the hard way. I trained Nathan because I needed some help and he was very dedicated to his fantastic snow map so he made a good canidate, its hard work some newbies think im just pressing a button and presto new map not the case my maps take weeks to even begin to look good. Would you guys like to come on and see 20 rooms with crap on???

I gave out the scripting (map) information freely to the community. I had already thought about the negative impact it could have, but I also hold the view that spurring creativity whenever possible is always better. Just like with any game community, you're going to have good mods and bad mods as well as good maps and bad maps. People learn through the process as they teeth on editing. But I think the decision on what is good or bad should be left up to the community, not an individual. Do as you wish, but I'll continue to help anyone who asks (unless Brave Tree asks otherwise). ;)
