uninstall deleted my projects ;(

by Vlad I · in General Discussion · 02/21/2011 (2:25 pm) · 7 replies

I dont know if anyone noticed, but it made pissed off when my TGB started to crash for no reason at the start, and when I had to uninstall it to install a clean version it started deleting all my folder where it was along with all my projects tutorials etc.!!! There was no cancel button either, I was a bit lucky to click on details and was horrified , I had stop it quickly via Ctrl+Alt+Del!

Some files I wasn't able to recover some had backups :(
Really angry

Sorry to hear you accidentally deleted your projects. The uninstaller removes everything in the TGB directory, and since that's where projects live they get removed along with everything else.

Maybe projects should be stored in the user area by default?

there should be at least an option to exclude games folder in uninstall and a cancel button. It aint that hard, or is it

backup files needed before a uninstall.

besides that, theres applications out there that lets you retrieve fiels that you have deleted pointers for. File Scavenger 3.2 for example. Search the drive you deleted from, and backup on a flash stick or other drive ;)

So it was my fault. Why excuses, just make a god damn option , that's all some folders contain resources too.

@Vladislav - It doesn't make sense that your projects were deleted. Any new project created by the editor should be storing it in the user area of the OS. For example: C:UsersMichDocumentsMyGames

Are you saying that was deleted when you uninstalled the engine? This as not happened to me before. Are you referring to the sample demos installed with the engine?
