License types and community name tag icons ( i'm new to Torque )

Hi,

I am rather new to Torque and GG; I have known about both for many years and now am moving up to the C++ side of development so I bought a Torque3D license as soon a I saw it for $99. Many Thanks for that GG !!

Please forgive my not seeing the obviousness of this but:

I have seen people's name tags showing: no icon, grey icon, white icon, red icon ( mine is red )

I have also seen where some people's name tags have a purple background, white backgrounds, grey backgrounds.
^-- I've seen where some of the purple name tags say something other than GarageGames and like 'default studio' and this is where i started getting a little confused as i thought that a purple name tage was reserved for GarageGames

Some name tags say studio where other don't and the name tag colors seem immune to if they are a studio or not.

I tried google searching the forums but i think i am not using the correct terminology to find a chart for this. Could I please get some clarification?

Thanks in Advance!
Rich

Hopefully this explains

Next to someones names:
- Nothing - they aren't licensed for any torque tech
- Grey Torque Logo - they are licensed for older products (TGE, TGB, TGEA,etc)
- Red Torque Logo - They are licensed for one of the latest generation of engines T3D, Torque2D, iTorque2D
- Little person - i.e. David Montgomery-Blake is a Community Manager

Studio Names (like I have) - you used to be able to buy studio licenses for products that can reassign to others it wasn't overly popular until GG did a sale and let us convert to studio for a very cheap price when lots of us bought just to have the tag, this is no longer available to buy though.

Background colours --

Purple - GarageGames employees/staff (think they can still edit their studio name to put whatever in though which is what may confuse you)

Dark Grey - Associates - who are 3rd party contractors or select community members chosen to help out GG with whatever associates do these days, some seem to have access to GG internal SVN and Jira (Bug Tracking) systems but not sure if that's all associates --- it's like a secret covenent - think you have to put your left arm between your legs and kiss the turkeys bottom to be let in.

Some are very active and seem to give back loads and others less so these days, I think I read somewhere they are looking to overall the associates club with the new revitalised GarageGames

Light Grey - All of us mere mortals :)

Did I miss any?

Well, it's a bit more complicated to get in...

You can also click the name and get a popup showing the products, in case you didn't know. Big hints right there :)

Overall the associates club? New uniforms?!

Thanks everyone ( Especially Andy for that great summary ) :-D

@Ronny: I think the third one with a Red Torgue3D logo would rule ^^

Some say ...

... that when you log into forum 45 ...

...it plays Vivaldi's Four Seasons ...

... all we know is, they're called Associates.

That's why they moved office - they needed one with gold toilets for the associates!

@Ronny: I would totally rock a color-coded flight suit at GDC for GG ;)
