iTorque2D need a physic engine like Box2D

by Edoardo · in iTorque 2D · 02/07/2011 (12:57 am) · 7 replies

Most of the games on iPhone and iPad are based on physics.
iTGB is not up to produce games like Angry bird, cut the rope or fragger...

iTGB to be a good competitor MUST support one of the most popular physics engines (Box2D or Chipmunk)

It's possible that nobody has a customized version of iTGB with box2D or Chipmunk integrated to share with the community?

@eb =)

The (Google code) integration is too difficult to integrate (on xCode clients) and now it use a old version of Box2D...

@eb: Torque2D as shown there was scrapped last year (there is a blog on it) and its path and target were reconsidered.

So far its not known when its going to happen, things mentioned last year prior the IA crash down though already back then implied Q2-Q3 2011 at least.

@Chili - Back in November of 2010, I integrated Box2D for a side project using the resource eb posted. It just needed some adjustments. I started on Saturday morning and had it running on a device by the next day. As for an official implementation in a future version, it is on the planning board.

Found another mention in that thread. I know Dave is busy lately, but he did make an offer in that resource:

Quote:I've been working on a resource that explains how to integrate this into iTGB. If you're interested, I could use someone to test it and make sure what it describes works they way it should. Could save you some R&D time if you wanted to help me out. :) If you do, send me an email at dave.calabrese@cerulean-games.com.
