Freelance 2D artist looking for work

Hello.
I'm Michael Yatskar, artist extraordinaire.
If you're looking for someone to do your concepts or character designs, you've found him. I've been freelancing for some time now, and although my experience as a commercial video game artist is somewhat limited, I think you'll be pleasantly impressed with what I can do.

Interested?

Alas, I can't quite afford a concept artist. I do need someone to do character art that goes directly into the 2 games I'm working on (well, ok, one's done except for some of the art, which I'm not doing myself), but having a concept artist would divide the meager profits we would recieve even more.

But there's a help wanted ad for a concept artist for some 3d game, so I guess you're set.

Thanks for the tip. You know, I could use a few more recent concept pieces to put in my portfolio. I could do some concept work for you for free, if you wouldn't mind me displaying some of it before the publication of the game.

Really? That would be great.

Ecoheroes doesn't really need any concept art (as alot of the art is already done anyways), but Mythale RPG could use some - none of the art for it is even started yet. If nothing else, it could give me some ideas.

If you do some concept art, I'll post it on my website (and, yes, I'll give you credit for it). And I'll also put you in the special thanks section of Mythale RPG's credits (it doesn't have a credits screen yet, but that's because I've been programming the actual game first). Since I'm not paying you, you can do whatever else you want to do with any art you send me.

My email address is Exyvarkus@planet-save.com, and my website is http://fletchgames.tripod.com/ . You can download the demo for Mythale RPG (or for Ecoheroes if you want) there. Mythale RPG isn't very far along and isn't worth playing at this point. But it's there if you want to take a look at it before doing some concept art.

As for the actual art:

I think that I'm primarily interested in concept art of people and monsters. In particular, it would be nice to have concept art for the PC.

There are 3 PC races: drelg, elf, and human. Elfs and humans are normal, so I'm not worried about having concept art for them. Drelg, however, are my own creation.

So it would help me if you could do a male and a female drelg.

A drelg is a humanoid and looks much like a human or elf. However, the drelg's features are horribly distorted. Many look grotesque, but others just look weird. The only feature that all drelg share is that their eyes have no pupils and glow.

Drelg are actually made out of slime, not out of regular flesh. They have no internal organs or anything of the sort. I envision them being able to survive injuries such as decapitation simply by growing a new head. I also want them to attack by "engulfing" their enemies (i.e. sliming them). This will have no real affect on the game; it'll just change the battle animation.

Remember, they're basically just balls of slime that are shaped like people.

But the 2 things I mentioned might not actually occur within the game, depending on how things work out. The concept art, however, has no such limitations.

Drelg are supposed to be "the warrior race". So they should look big and tough.

Drelg possess two special abilities. When using a Claw (a weapon type in Mythale RPG), they can drain Hp from their enemy. They're other ability is the ability to merge. Two drelg can combine themselves into 1 person, thus combining all their stats. When this happens, the resulting drelg is some sort of firey being (with no apparent gender).

So I would like 1 male drelg, 1 female drelg, and 1 merged drelg.

The second most important thing I would want done is concept art of the main allies. If you want to do more work, I'll send you their descriptions.

There will be many standard enemies (i.e. goblins, orcs, harpies, bandits, pirates, etc.), but I'm not too worried about them. Nonstandard enemies are important, but I don't think they're as important as the good guys.

Since you'll probably only spend a little of your time doing this, I would rather that you did good guys.

And, of course, you aren't under any obligation to do anything you don't want to.

Thanks in advance for whatever concept art you send me.
