Can't import textures for creating a terrain

I am just a beginner, but I already have a problem with adding terrains in Torque 3D. First I import a heightmap (1024x1024), then I add three opacity layers (1024x1024). Then I edit them, and I create a new terrain. But when I want to import textures, the checkered images become just white, insead of showing a preview from the image. The textures are from the tutorial, so I think I do something wrong or some settings are wrong.. Can somebody help me out?

I just did what the tutorial says and I'm using the files the tutorial does:

In the Torque 3D folder, the Torque 3D 2009 SDK 1.0.1\Examples\FPS Example\game\art\terrains -> Deathball Desert_0.ter doesn't work. When I create it, nothing happens, and I can't find it back in the scene tree. I think this it because of the same problem.
I really don't understand what could be wrong, do I have to change setting? Is my windows 7 32-bit a problem?

I just found out there are more problems with creating terrain. When I choose Scene tree -> Library -> Level -> Environment -> Terrain Block, and I choose a .ter file, not all of them work.In the Torque 3D folder, the Torque 3D 2009 SDK 1.0.1\Examples\FPS Example\game\art\terrains -> Deathball Desert_0.ter doesn't work.
