[Non-Paid] Looking for Coding Partner

by Andy Dbest · in Jobs · 01/17/2011 (7:16 am) · 8 replies

Hey all,
I have noticed that most of the threads here are for paid work. At the risk of sounding stupid, I thought I might as well post here asking for help.

I am looking for a coding partner who can work with T2D to develop a game with me. I am a relative beginner in Torque and would like to know if someone is keen on working together.

I have a couple of game ideas but am also open to listen to new ones.

You can mail me at andyjdbest @ gmail . com

The request is not stupid, but it would be easier if there would be a concept.
Is there a Game you really wanna do?

Actually, i am already hoked up with my own huge project. It's a 3D one.
But i can give you some start-up help, anyway.

Are you looking for someone with experience in T2D or someone interested in learning and bouncing off ideas with? I'm just now starting to work with Torque since my it is used in my class this semester.

@alexander - thanks for responding.

I have one game concept that I could elaborate on.
Its a time-management game, wherein the player is in charge of a Lumber Mill.
- Send workers to cut trees
- Collect the wood and send it to the mill via vehicles
- Train workers
- Improve the mill

@andreas - I don't mind either... would you be interested?

Did you guys get in touch with each other?

The concept sounds pretty much achievable.

Not yet.

Hopefully, it is something that can be done quickly.

From my experience with coders that sounds like a game that should be achievable in a few days. At least the basis of the game.
The TDN is not accessible at the moment. Otherwise i could do some research for you.

There was a tutorial at TDN on how to make a simple RTS game in Torque2D. That would be the perfect start: TDN Tutorial
If it would be accessible...

Maybe the Adventure Kit will help you when you are starting at zero.

Sorry for the incredibly late response, I have been busy. That sounds pretty interesting. I haven't been able to purchase any of the Torque software yet as cash is tight right now but it would be fun working on something like that. I haven't seen of any way to send personal messages on here.
