Heavies

by LC50 · in ThinkTanks · 08/21/2003 (7:55 pm) · 12 replies

This thread will be for those who are stubborn, crazy, or demented enough to play the heavy.

Any tips or tactics to share would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure Dementus has the heavy tank team scrum tactics figured out by now... :)

Also, I slapped a heavy tanks website together:

www.geocities.com/lc50tank/

Yes, it's a free Geocities site, so it occasionally flakes out. What can I say, I'm cheap (beer before bandwidth).

Cheers,
LC50

ROFL!

Thanks for listing me on the site! Yes, I'm truly demented to "poke around" on the scrum fields. Their really are some strategies I've come upon, and I may actually share them soon. :) Not that no one else knows them or that I have a definitive list. I'm simply still perfecting it before I write anything down.

As for other Heavy Tank players, I've come across someone named "The Architect" who was good. I don't know if you have him/her listed as another name or not, though.

Yes the architect should definately be on your list.. you can see his work in my CTF screen shots.

The Architect has been added to the Heavy Tank Hall of Fame. Any other nominations?

Baklava, I'm glad you're going to lessen the suicidal tendencies. I tried that strategy, but it only works well if you're in a light tank. Even then it seems you spend a lot of time looking for the right spot in the map to jump off or the right powerup in order to commit the point saving hari kari. It's like camping in scrum: just as annoying, but more effective. Besides, you're a good enough player without the suicides! :)

Just thought I'd move this thread up in the forum.

Lately, quite a few of the neophytes have become adept with the heavy... Chanman is showing much promise and has been added to the Heavy Tank Hall of Fame.

Really gives me a warm fuzzy to see a neo change from a light to a heavy after seeing me or Dem do a little damage on the field. Stick with it guys... rage against the (light) machines!

Also, the heavies still are not as useful in -z-'s CTF. I have a few ideas that would make all tanks more useful in CTF, but I'll save it for another thread.

My heavy tank skin is my personal skin. I'd hate to show up at a party and see another tank wearing the exact same skin I'm wearing. That's so embarrassing!

I could make a variant of the skin and make it available for downloading (minus the LC50, etc.). I'll keep ya posted Dev. I'll also try my best to refer to you in 3rd person as "him" not "her" now that I know the truth.

Heavy tank tip: Light tanks are always running off to find health powerups, they are magnets for the little guys....

LIGHT TANK TIP!

While chasing a heavy, do NOT run into the back of it. Remember, they cannot hear you over their noise untill you hit them. Compensate for speed.
