Software Filming

by rennie moffat · in iTorque 2D · 11/26/2010 (8:45 pm) · 8 replies

Hi there,
I am wondering, I have used both Screenium and iShowUHD but both produce less then the quality I would like when filming my app, from the Simulator.

I am wondering, are there any programs people have used here that produce crystal clear quality that I can see on youTube?

You probably want to use Fraps (www.fraps.com)

I assume he's on a Mac, in which case he won't want anything else after getting ScreenFlick. Lightweight and efficient.

Thanks guys,
I tried screeching as it looks a little more serious. Good but not great. I think may adjust color in my monito to give a boost.

Really I think one of the problems is besides degradation is that my monitor is like 10% lighter than should be. And my visuals are somewhat delicate. Not hardy.

If anyone has a surfire binaries they like...

Holler
Thanks

Edit: please not screeching means Screenflix. iPhone typo #worsteveh

I was planning to use Screenflow, there is a free trial version that you could use to try it out:

http://www.telestream.net/screen-flow/overview.htm

The full version is $99 though, so it's quite expensive. The one that Ronny mentioned is much cheaper, it's currently $25 but I don't think there is a free trail version of that one.

Hmmm so maybe the cheapies are not the way to go. I just don't want to spend a hundred bucks and then have it be something that is not worth it. F liming just as good as the others.

@Mark: Screenflick is the best. And you can just download it and use it in trial mode, like most Mac software. I've tried them all. Even evaluated some free alternatives. Some of them will put some unusual demands on your system.

Ronny, thanks for the feedback. If there is a trial version I will definitely try it out.

Rennie, I use a lot of freeware software and some of them are good, but some of them are bad also. I always prefer to spend some time evaluating the alternatives before I commit. If there is a trial version there is nothing to lose, except time.

@Rennie Forget all those listed above. Go to techsmith.com and download the free trial of Camtasia, or get Jing. Both record with excelent quality. Jing is absolutely free, and the pro version of it is only $15.
