Mutant Storm 1.3 Patch Bug Report

by Aubrey Hesselgren · in General Game Discussion · 08/13/2003 (3:30 am) · 7 replies

Just installed the new patch. In the hope of giving you some comprehensive feedback:

Definate bugs:
(While running at 800*600)
The pompom logo appears twice, side by side, as does the Mutant Storm texture.

A lot of text just appears as "XXXX". This includes the string at the bottom of the menu, "difficult" "room" "time bonus" etc ingame.

"Language" has been replaced by "registration" in the main menu. Its functionality is still to switch languages.

In the options menu, the first line denomiantes language, but links to single player controls. The next line denominates the first player's controls, but links to the second player. Basically, "english" has pushed down the strings, and "go back" has been popped off, even though the functionality is still there.

As expressed before, dyamic text is shown as XXXX in the control setup page.

Cursor keys work on the main menu, but not the ingame menu - I think I'm right in saying that you need that consistancy.

It says in the readme that the mouse is available for use with the menu. It's not in mine!

Possible bugs:
I'm not getting a "genocide" bonus for the third tank-bug in a row. Have you change the value you need to change this?

Game still rocks, guys.

Aubrey,

The version available at GarageGames is 1.3, but that works fine with no problems at all.
( I just wanted to be clear here, in case any GG customers were worried about the problems )

The problems only arise with the 1.22 > 1.3 update patch we sent out to our existing PomPom customers.

Miles is looking into it as we speak.

Cheers for the feedback.

Aubrey,

it looks like the new .exe didnt get installed

so the old .exe is using the new data

is mutantstorm.exe marked as read only?
did the update ask if you wanted to skip a file?

Hmm. Well it says it was created on the 13th of August, 2003.

It's 278KB. Is that the right size?

It should be 708 KB (724,992 bytes)

are you running any anti-virus software?

can you try renaming the existing .exe
and re-running the update

That did it! Hooray! Something's different about it. It looks great!

Still, I can't think why it didn't work first time. No anti virus. The file wasn't read only.
