Bravetree RUINED Island Hopping!!!!

#1 Yes, you die before you reach the island- in the air, before you hit the fog.

#4 The change is server side, since the server keeps track of your health. So even if you didn't update you can't sky dive on any of the Shockwave or HomeLAN servers.

This explains why I haven't been able to island hop for quite a while. And I thought it was my rusty jumping skills.

You can still island hop if you are connected to an older server though, regardless of which TT version you are running locally.

#6 Oh, that explains it then. I just found out from Chris' page how to jump. And when I found myself landing on the outer islands, I thought that must be how to get there, but I always was dead before or as I landed... Oh well. Jumping around is still kinda fun.

We are considering making a few small changes that will allow you to island hop again if you run a server.

#8 I didn't mean to be rude at blaming bravetree, but yeah. Make the option to run an island hopping server. Also make a way to disable guns, to keep island hopping fun.


You can still climb the wall. I lived being vertical on the wall for quite some time.
I just have 1 question: Did you put the arena in a big box, or did you guys just block off the trouble spots?

What is this? Hanging on the side of the map and/or driving along the cliff wall? Yeah, I love doing that... I especially like it when I'm just at the line of death and wondering if I'm losing health or not :)

So, I assume the island hopping was taken out because folks would get out onto them and snipe from them? I dunno... That sounds kind of fun. If it takes as many tries as it took me to almost make it, then I think they'd lose points doing it, right? If not, then they eventually would run out of ammo out there...

There's an idea. Maybe allow some shooting but make the ammo run out quicker?

#10 Island hopping was taken out mostly because it was a bug, the boundry box wasn't being respected as designed.

Having an "ignore boundry box" setting for the server would be good for running your own sky dive server. But even with that, the bounding box on Cranium Crator could be expanded just enough so that Bot Falls Island is safe...

#11 Yeah, I would at least like to see the small (seemingly named 'bot falls island') as an accessible part of the map. Being on it doesnt expose the edges of the map in any nasty way, and no other islands can be reached from it. Its fun to shoot over there, and Sumo matches on it are immense fun.

Practical and tactical use of it mid-game is almost impossible, but its a fun addition. I can understand why the others have been definately declared out-of-bounds, but I miss my little island.

Heh, until I read this thread, I too just thought I had just lost my touch, or that the tanks had been slowed down a little to prevent it, but seems it's the server code retaliating. Ah well...

Would be nice to at least have 'bot falls' open for business though.

Skydiving is fun.. but sometimes you need a goal to work towards to keep you occupied =)

#16 If you really are just doing it for fun then launch TT Version 1.02 as a server and invite all your friends and go Hawaiian Island Hopping. That's what we did yesterday. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with all the action photography I took. It reminds me of back in the day photographing each other skateboarding or surfing.

#20 Skateboarding isn't a crime. Running them across things, chipping, mutilating and otherwise defacing public property is a crime, though. So is menacing pedestrians on a public walking space, as is careening down the road in traffic on a vehicle unauthorized for street use.
