Other 3D cards with linux?

Do you guys plan on supporting other cards on linux? I've got a few friends who've tried it on ATI Radion 7000 and a v3 2000, and experienced lock ups and other 3D issues. I know you only claim to support nvidia... just wondering... I'd like to be able to kick their butts. :)

Now, I've never done any 3D development beyond one computer graphics class, but I thought the whole point of OpenGL is that you write to OpenGL (or glut, or whatever other toolkit), and any card that supports it should work. Of course, it could never be as simple as that, I know. Ah well, back go getting smoked by that damned flying saucer.
Thanks for all the quick replies, Joe.

Well, the knowledge that I have... with the ATI Radeon 7000, it just freezes, and with the voodoo3, it works okay, but then the ground flashes blue and it gets super slow.. Real helpful, I know. :) Now, I've never done any 3D development beyond one computer graphics class, but I thought the whole point of OpenGL is that you write to OpenGL (or glut, or whatever other toolkit), and any card that supports it should work. Do you have other games running ok using OpenGL on Linux with those cards? The reason I ask is that the problem may lie with the OpenGL drivers for those cards and not with the game itself.

The issue is not ThinkTanks supporting other linux cards, its vendors supporting linux. If more vendors would support hardware acceleration via opengl for linux, it would just start working.

I believe the OpenGL drivers (out of the box Redhat) are fine, as Tux Racer runs like a dream. :)
It's not that important to me though, as this is my work machine! :D
I've got a GF4 at home, so I can own joo all from there. ;)

I've got a Radeon 7000 in this machine (KDE on latest Redhat), and have the same problem with TT - when I start a new game it gets as far as the tank hitting the ground, and then freezes the entire machine!I believe the OpenGL drivers (out of the box Redhat) are fine, as Tux Racer runs like a dream. :)

At this time, no one is working on improving torque video card support for non-Nvidia cards on linux.

The cards that should work without issues are ATI 8500+ and pretty much any Nvidia card using their drivers, even a TNT2 (albeit slowly). The DRI drivers for other cards, including Radeon 7500 and lower and voodoo3, have a number of problems with the torque engine. At this time, no one is working on improving torque video card support for non-Nvidia cards on linux.
