Torque 1.1 Beta 2 & 3 Direct X/VS Requirements - Not a bug

I just finished upgrading to Beta 2 (merging code anyway) and noticed Beta 3 was up this weekend. I am going to start merging, but ran into a issue running it. Seems when I run it through visual studio I get an error asking if the dll exists and suggesting to update the Direct X sdk.
I noticed in the official docs it said to download February 2010 SDK and under the Direct X site it says VS2005 is no longer supported.
So I have several question all around the same topic:
Do we really need the February 2010 SDK?
If so do we really need VS2008 or VS2010? (Will you remove the 2005 project generator since it doesn't work?)
Also does the newest version of the Direct X SDK work (June 2010)?

Support for Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio 2010
In the next release, the Direct X SDK will add support for Visual Studio 2010. At that time, the Direct X SDK will no longer support Visual Studio 2005; the February 2010 release will be the last release to support Visual Studio 2005. The next release will continue to support Visual Studio 2008.

I have now moved to Visual Studio 2008 Express and June 2010 SDK.

It's a bit complicated. DirectX June 2010 SDK does not support VS 2005. However, I was able to compile Release but NOT Debug using VS 2005 and DX June 2010 SDK.I have now moved to Visual Studio 2008 Express and June 2010 SDK.

From the sounds of it I will have to end up moving to a newer version of visual studio anyway. We may just have to purchase 2010 licenses and call it good. Suppose it would get rid of the errors on Win7 and vista as well.
Thanks for the clarification Matt!

Wonder if VS2005 Pro would still work for Debug with debugging, cause that is really where I see the issue. From the sounds of it I will have to end up moving to a newer version of visual studio anyway. We are trying release now. My guess is that it is the VS2005 compatibility issue, but not sure.

So we updated to February 2010, but we still get the same error the March Direct X SDK gave. The error that I seem to get when I run debug through visual studio is or not through visual studio is:Quote:I abbreviated the folder path, but you get the idea. Both the exe and dll exists and as stated I am using February 2010.
unable to load game library "...Game_DEBUG.dll". Please make sure it exists and that the latest DirectX is installed.

I am guessing it is an issue with VS2005. Will try on VS2010, but would really like to see some testing on Instant Action's end and an Employee blog post or something addressing it.

As others have stated, seems release works fine, just not Debug.I am guessing it is an issue with VS2005. Will try on VS2010, but would really like to see some testing on Instant Action's end and an Employee blog post or something addressing it.
