Macintosh Powerbook touch pad problem

I got the .mac version of Marble Blast, and have been working my way through it. Overall, the game is way cool and much fun to play.
The only complaint I have is that there is some wierdness with how MarbleBlast deals with the touch pad button on my 15" PowerBook G4 (Running OSX 10.2.6). Much of the time, it seems to think the touch pad button is constantly pressed, so the instant I grab a powerup, the powerup gets used ... even if that's the last thing I want to have happen.
I've been able to work around it some, by making sure that I click the touch pad button before grabbing a powerup - that seems to reset what MarbleBlast thinks the left mouse button state is, so I can grab a powerup and use it when I feel like.
I have a couple of USB 3-button mice and they work fine. Except that the problem is still there when I have a external mouse connected (MarbleBlast still seems to think the mouse button is pressed until I click on the touch pad button.)

I have a feeling that it has to do with the touch pad interpreting clicks since you can click the touchpad. Is there a sensativity setting, for clicking, you can turn down on the touch pad? See here's the problem. It works fine with a mouse when you have no touch pad, so this means that the code is ok. The problem seems to be with the touch pad. Which doesn't help you any, but we can't control the hardware of the touch pad. I don't know for sure, I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not positive that we can fix this.

Other than that ... I think messing with the parameters won't help. I've got a 'Tracking speed' control, 'Double Click Speed' control, 'Ignore trackpad when typing' (which is selected) and 'Ignore trackpad when mouse is present' (which is not selected). The best answer I have is to have it ignore the trackpad and use a USB mouse.

For my part, I never used my ibook's trackpad : got a logitech trackball the day I bought it, and have been using it ever since, with the trackpad disabled.
Edit : Seems that with old age (33 on monday ;)), I can't type properly anymore... 8p

Yep, always check ignore trackpad when using a mouse : it's a good habit, so you don't get erratic cursor movements while working, and better control while playing :)For my part, I never used my ibook's trackpad : got a logitech trackball the day I bought it, and have been using it ever since, with the trackpad disabled.

I'm also experiencing the same problems as Alan here, a lot of the times the powerups are triggered by just touching them. I'm also running 10.2.6 on a 15" PowerBook G4.
As for my trackpad settings
Use trackpad for clicking is on
Ignore trackpad when typing is on
Ignore trackpad when mouse is present is on
