PhysX demo not working

by Sean H. · in Torque 3D Professional · 08/22/2010 (11:19 pm) · 2 replies

Was something changed in the PhysX T3D demo for Beta 2? I can run the older beta version of the demo, but now when I try to run the Beta 2 version, I get an error about updating my version of PhysX.

I've never downloaded PhysX actually. I assume that if I download the latest version of PhysX it will work fine.

What changed from Beta 1 to Beta 2 thats now preventing it from working?

What changed is that a new version of PhysX shipped and we built against that version. You can just as easily rebuild Torque against an older version of PhysX if you like.

Just grab the latest PhysX runtime installer from the NVidia site and reboot your system (the reboot is importaint).

Its not official yet, but we should be making it easier to get PhysX SDKs and runtimes soon for all Torque users.

Thanks Tom. I think I actually did download an older version of physX.

When I installed the beta2, it mustve detected that I already had physX so it didn't bother asking for it.

In the future, it may be beneficial for the install to actually check the version of physX you have against the required version.

as for me, I think I'd rather just rebuild it against an older version of physX.
