2D demo for 3D game

Hey folks,
I made this post before but I can't seem to find the thread anymore. I checked my posts, but it's not in any of them. Anyway,
I just spent the last five days looking for a 2D game dev tool to build a demo for my game. I'm doing this to attract a team experienced in 3D and multiplayer games.
I think I found just the tool to build such a demo but I'm afraid to even mention the name on this forum. It's almost embarrasing. I swear I got a little stupider reading the forums on their site. It must be full of 14 and 15 year old kids(no offense to the young geniuses that may be on this forum).
Well, anyway, for a 2d game dev tool, it looks pretty promising. It's called Game Maker by Mark Oversomething.
Now here's my question (and I know I brought it up before, I just can't find the thread) If I make a really decent 2D demo with all the rules and gameplay inplace, and document the intended design in detail, including a marketing plan(which is actually a big part of how the game works) Would it give me, say a 50/50 chance of attracting a committed (not insane) team willing to develope it?
I estimate the 3D, commercialy competetive version would take about 6 months to a year at the most(depending on the resources the dev team brings to the project). The game is NOT an FPS, RTS, or MMORPG.
It is turn based, and will support up to only four players. I only say four players because it's sort of simultaneous turn based, but only one player is the aggressor during any given turn, while all other players can do defensive/counter actions and too manby players would be disruptive to the game anyhow.

So, 2D game done in ISO view with 'Game Maker' to demo a potentialy highly profitable 3D simultaneous turn based multiplayer game in order to attract a dev team that would equally share in the profits upon release?

Thoughts and advice please.

I saw your other post somewhere and replied there about it.

I was rambling, in short -> I've thought of using Gamemaker to prototype my RPG that I want to make, and I think its promising (I've made plenty of games with it before, but just single afternoon projects :) )

Once I've finished this Torque project I'm on at the moment I'm going to make a Gamemaker 'gameplay demo' for my other game ideas.

Go for it,
I am

Nick

Edit: I just re-read what you said about 14 and 15 year olds on the gamemaker forum, I've never been to the forum there myself, but I notice a lot of game development forums seem to be dominated by young kids. In general (if there are young kinds here) GarageGames types seem to be more mature :)

Outstanding!
Thanks for the positive response. I love it when my approach doesn't seem to be wasting time. I was thinking too that the game would be a good sort of bets test to see how well folks like the game rule and I can tweak the pace of it a bit. One other thing though. I've been combing the internet for good 2D sprite. Man, what's up with the anime? I had my fill of it while I was in Japan for three years, and now that's all I can find in the area of game graphics. I did find one source which was nice, German I think. Reiner's tilesets. I don't have the link, I'm at work right now.
Anyway, without having to do the character animations myself, does anyone know of a good site to get decent sprites? Heroes of Might and Magic III quality is what I'm looking for.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and other that the occasional blast-fest I've seen here on GG, this does seem to be one of the more mature AND informative sites. Another is the Robot Battle registry. Good group of gamer/programmers there. Fun game too.
