I'd just echo what Tom said, I always use Fraps for it - works like a charm and costs peanuts

Fraps, well worth 37 bucks. (odd price)

I've been happy with CamStudio - free and works fine. Though it does have some problems with recording audio for me, which apparently could be solved if I actually had a sound card :P.

@Daniel I have Cam Studio... seems to be working for now... I downloaded Fraps and I'm running Win7 and it wouldn't record... Something I'm missing?

Using Fraps as well. Well worth the price.

Its best to use a quad core or higher system when doing video capture... it will tend to affect your game framerate less.
Also if you have two hard drives in your system... capture to the data drive and not the system drive. Especially don't captutre to a solid state disk.
