Adding Terrain in docs

by Chris Sargent · in Torque 3D Professional · 08/08/2010 (2:43 am) · 5 replies

I followed the tut in the docs for adding a terrain and when my terrain is generated i have the no material default instead of the textures (normal, diffuse, and detail). Before reporting this I was wondering if this had something to do with the previously reported bug of material editor not saving materials?

Thanks,

Ok I have updated to directX June 2010 sdk and built my solution again. Following the steps to build a terrain in the docs gives me a terrain with no materials applied upon completion.

Did you make sure to have the files you imported in your game's directory? I saw this happen to one of the lab managers the other day while he was learning the engine and I believe that's what he did. T3D does not copy the files over to the local directory like Torque X, T2D and iT2D do.

I have the files under game/art/terrains/terrainfiles
with snow, prairie, and rockwall all under this in their own directories

I followed the steps again in the docs using the 1.1 beta with the same result has anyone else tried this yet? I would like to know if it's just me or not :P

This slide by the wayside but has anyone else tried this? I have tried on fresh installs and followed the tut letter by letter and do not get the results shown in the documentation. I would just like to know if this is a bug, wrongly written tut, or it's just me.

Thanks :P
