T3D 1.1 Beta 2 - Terrain Material Editor not saving new materials - RESOLVED

Build: T3D 1.1 Beta 2

Platform: Windows 7, 64 bit
GTX280 nvida with drivers version 258.96

(where is this bug happening?)
Terrain Materials Editor

(what is the bug)
Issues: when you make a new layer in the Terrain Materials Editor and apply the setting, save the level, quit out, the load the level up again and all the new lays you have made have all changed back to the default "NO Material" layer.


(tell us how to trigger the bug)
Steps to Repeat:

This is from a FRESH INSTALL OF T3D1.1 BETA2

1. Launch the world editor
2. create blank terrain, doesn't matter what size
3. go to terrain painter
4. create a new layer
5. choose your material, put a new name in etc
6. click the apply/select button
7. paint an area with the new material.
8. save the level.
9. quit.
10. open up world editor again from tool box
11. select load level and choose the lvl that you saved.
12. when it loads all the new materials you made are now not saved and the No Material is in its place.

I'm not seeing this issue, not with file-> Create Blank Terrain or World Editor->Environment->TerrainBlock

I did have some initial "Create Blank Terrain" issues until I installed the DxSDK_Jun2010 ...

i will install DxSDK_Jun2010 and see how that goes.

The terrain is fine it is the terrain material editor that is the prob, you make new layers apply the settings save lvl then quit then open up the lvl you just saved and open up the terrian Material editor and 3/4 of the layers you saved have revertied back to NO Material skin.

after the selection of new material and after opening the dialog window new/edit material must reselect new material from the icon next to the recycle bin .... if they did.
After this place the new material name and select textures.
I am working with win7 64bit and dx9 May2009 sdk (i use ati1950 pro x2)

I could not reproduce this issue. I get a terrain with the correct materials, including the renamed ones, every time. Are there any errors in the console for you, or was the DX SDK a factor?

I kind of suspect latter, as there was a terrain issue shortly after release that was resolved with the updated SDK.

sorry for the late reply, yes updating to the newer Dx SDK has seams to be working alot better and no probs with material saving etc
