DRM - Software Protection

by Aditya Kulkarni · in General Discussion · 07/28/2010 (7:15 am) · 3 replies

I need a good DRM system for both win/mac builds. There doesn't seem to be a lot of discussion on software protection in the forums. Anyone experienced with using DRM care to share some details/walkthroughs here?

Well first off if your game is good your DRM will get cracked and unless its strictly online (with accounts, access management, etc) people will be playing it in whatever mode (single, lan, etc) they want if they are out to pirate it.

And if your game is not successful enough to be pirated you are just punishing legitimate users, for example I have some software with super restrictive DRM I won't name that is such a pain in the ass I don't even use it anymore even though I own a legitimate copy.

What are you trying to solve with DRM?

Also what engine are you building that you have licensed?

I have TGB (non-pro), just posted a teaser in the blogs (www.torquepowered.com/community/blogs/view/20013)

Basically, I want to put out a single, time limited version of the game which can be converted to the full version by buying and entering the serial instead of downloading two copies (demo and full) of the same game.
