Polysoup collision on TSStatics

I am trying to get polysoup collision on TSStatics to work. I have set the collision type to "Visible Mesh" but it still seems to be creating a convex wrapper around the shape and using that for collision.
Is there anything else I have to do to get polysoup collision to work? Do I need to use one of the physics plugins like PhysX or Bullet?
