Circa in Playtest!

by John Bura · in Torque X 2D · 07/21/2010 (2:40 am) · 28 replies

Hey there everybody,

My Xbox Game Circa is now in playtest. Circa is a game that takes the best ideas of Geometry Wars and Rock Band and fuses them into an explosion of fun. If you played the game "everyday Shooter" for PS3, this game is very similar to that.

I am using the new Beta and Love it. Thank you Torque and Pino to get that out the door. It made my life really easy. I am also using the GameKit made by Henry Shilling. This also made my life really easy.

I also want to thank people on the forum that helped me with all of my questions.

If you would like to take a look at my game here is in the forums

Thanks for playing :)
John

Hey John quite cool concept. I like the sounds that play when you shoot the stuff, the circular particles, its cool.

I think you are missing a screen, there is no press start to continue where it selects the controller. I had to guess at it in the the TorqueX screen.

I was kinda shocked at the death, it seems I just die and still on multiple plays don't really know why. Maybe I hit one of the enemies, or there is one shot death. I don't know. If you have a health like you do in the corner, then it seems that a one hit kill is a bit much. It seems to hint that you can withstand some punishment.

I will post in the next few days how I did the sales screen.

Good job so far.

Thanks for your I will take a look at the start screen and the death. The game difficulty is supposed to be hard to very hard. But it could be a collision issue. Ill check it out.

Thank you for the "buy" code. And I really thank you for your Game Kit it saved me a lot of time :).

I'd also make a video, the video is seriously only to get people to playtest and review it as we are the only ones who look at it.

Is there another way to navigate to it?

Sometimes the XNA forums have issues, sometimes they go down. They also don't always play well with chrome or even firefox.

You guys could also go to the XNA site and look at the games in playtest and go for it.

Hi Mark, I haven't thought of it like that. Thank you for the kind words. I like the box art too Im going to have t-shirts with the same logo :)

Yes, I love the beta. The old one would crash for no reason giving me a lot of stress. The new one doesn't do that so I like it.

@Henry - They make browsers other than Chrome and Firefox? Anyone know where I can download Netscape? :P Thanks for the tip. I'll do some clicking around the playtest area.

@John - I'll play with it tomorrow as soon as I get some time. Looking forward to it, since there was practically a thread every other day about it :P

The Code 7 is not fixable, it means that the Creator's Club Premium account has been disconnected or cannot reach the LIVE service ;)
