TGB 1.7.5

How useful is TGB 1.7.5 without source ? Can it be used to make games like Platformers or RPGs (sidescrolling or topdown etc). Without source and thus no chance of an SQlite integration, what are my data storage options ? Text ? what else ?
How far away is T2D ? Is it worth waiting for that instead ? It seems to still be pretty far away :P

TGB 1.7.6 is coming out before T2D, they found enough bugs to warrant another TGB release so 1.7.5 will not be the final one as we were first told.
Per last week's call in show/podcast, they said every engine is supposed to have a monthly status report to the community, but I cannot find one for TGB or T2D. They have implied a Q1 or Q2 2011 release date for T2D, but that was so long ago and they never officially stated but it certainly seems like it will be sometime in 2011.

These are the exact same questions I have had about this engine, but am having difficulty finding an answer looking about. Here is what I do know:TGB 1.7.6 is coming out before T2D, they found enough bugs to warrant another TGB release so 1.7.5 will not be the final one as we were first told.

Once you have to run through the gauntlet of QA... you'll want the source... and you'll want to know what to do with it.
For a core audience (that won't have hardware issues), you could certainly make an RPG or platformer. If you're talking oldschool-style games, I don't imagine you'd need too much depth in your database solutions.... .csv spreadsheet-full-o-data?
Best of luck!

TGB 1.7.(4)5 is awesome for prototyping and making cool games... Once you have to run through the gauntlet of QA... you'll want the source... and you'll want to know what to do with it.

I found 1.7.5 quite unstable so I still use 1.7.4 without the source.
Except for a few constraints (t2dObjectCtrl doesn't work in gui and other minor bugs), it's still awesome and yeah, you can make platformers or rpg's and any other genre that you want without the source.

For the storage, you can use xml. It's persistent and you can save/load levels and custom data without needing the source.

Dream. Build. Repeat.
I think the main problem with the non-pro version is that you may have to make design considerations according to the limitations of the engine, rather than make engine changes according to your design.
I'd love to know as well.
