overriding the run/jump animations.

I made a melee weapon. It works well, my character swings it, she deals damage with is and all that other jazz, but only when standing still. When she is running or jumping she will deal the damage but will not use any of my swing animations. is there a way to override my run/jump animations for my swing animations?
Note: She has five different swing animations. Three mapped to one button (left mouse) and are quick swings and the other two are mapped to different buttons (one to right mouse, and the other to middle mouse).

I don't know If armthreads are the way to go for me. This is because two of her attacks involves her entire body. She has a dash attack (where she jumps at the enemy) and a 360 spin. So the attacks need to use all the body, not just the arm's.
