I did not know about the CVS changelist when I posted this message. And that is exactly what I wanted. Here is the link to the change list, which shows exactly what the GG guys have been working hard at for the past few weeks. :)

It is now over 5 weeks later. And we have not heard anything official from anyone at GG. This is nothing new; it is merely a continuation of the pattern that has persisted for a very long time, and has recently been growing worse.

I'm not normally one to complain, but I would really appreciate some more feedback/information from the GG guys. The last post by Tim Gift, almost a quarter of a year ago, said that he was working on torque 1.2 What features will this include? Do they need/want any help with specific issues? What are the plans after that? When can we expect some more information on Torque 2?

Perhaps I'm missing something. But it seems to me as if the GG guys are leaving us in the dark. If they aren't working on the engine right now, and are instead talking with developers about publishing deals or helping some of the first games be successful, that's cool, but I'd like to know. Right now it feels like they sit around all day waiting for stuff to happen, and I KNOW that isnt the case.

I mean no offense to any of the GG guys, and I'm sure you have your reasons, but perhaps you could share them with us? :)

What does everyone else think?

Personally I think it's unfair that everyone is jumping on Josh. He's had plenty of disclaimers on most all of his points, so there's shouldn't be a lot to mis-interpret. I think he raises some valid points though. After all, most everyone here is a Garage Games customer, whether that be from purchasing the Torque engine or buying one of the games they've published. Does the Garage Games crew owe their customers anything? I say yes, yes they do. Those who have purchased the engine should have high expectations as customers who have spend no small amount of money of some software. Sure, Josh could have dug further into the site to find much of what he was looking for, but it wasn't exactly easy to find. Instead of being condescending towards one of their customers maybe the employees should be looking at why a thread like this has triggered such a strong reaction and examine what they can do to better serve said customers. The people in this forum do not serve Garage Games, Garage Games serves them, at least that's how I see it.

Tim, I am not sure how you meant that.

If you are suggesting that they are only worried about *their* games and profit, I would have to disagree.

There are a few points that need to be made about GG.

1) When Dynamix left Sierra for whatever reason, they could have just opened a new Dev house to profit on their own creations, but instead they started GG to help out those of us with similar dreams, while making a living doing it. That is actually quite admirable. We all know they would have done very well if they had chosen the former path.

2) GG Profits from ALL games that come through here, so I don't think they are just worried about what *they* made. The more games we make, the more money they make.

3) I have noticed that Marble Blast and Think Tanks have been getting a lot of attention, but they are great games. Orbz got a lot of attention too(and is also very fun). And just a correction, Think Tanks was done by BraveTree. Most of them were part of the old Dynamix team, but they aren't GG.

I think the most important point to remember is #1, they should be doing very well by us for giving us a shot at out dreams.

EDIT: If I misunderstood your post, please disregard this. :)

@ Tim Smith do you want GG to make your game for you!?

I'm sorry, but you complain alot. Maybe you should put that energy to some good use. I wish that you wouldn't post such negative comments so much. It gets the community all fired up and threads turn into flame wars. I suggest that if you have a problem with GG owners or affiliates or anyone... that you contact them directly instead of making the community upset with you. Sometimes you seem like you want to be a team player and other times you seem like you want to drag everyone down.

For various reasons, I'm positive GG wishes nothing more than for external teams to make great games using TGE and RE and (unlikely, but possible) get rich doing so. On the business front, that will drive even more money to them both directly from engine licensing and profit sharing (assuming they publish through this site) and by generating massive PR. If anyone thinks they aren't serious about the whole indie game movement, I don't know what to say to that, other than your tinfoil hat might be on a little bit tight and is restricting the blood-flow to your brain.
