iTGB 1.4 beta 2: corrupt particle effect file after editing
by Carlos G. Varela · in iTorque 2D · 06/28/2010 (2:33 am) · 8 replies
To recreate the bug, drag some particle effect into the scene, then edit the effect graph and then save it, overwrite over the same filename, and you reload the project, the particle effect does not show anything, its in blank.
In order to continue working, I need to do the same, but with the TGB 1.7.5, then reopen the project with iTGB 1.4 beta 2, in this way its work, but only in this way.

However, Scott is right about particle effects being expensive. They may be optimized in the future when we clean up the bugs, but a lot of developers have moved to tools that create particles and save them out as sprite sheets.

I just ran into this last week. I noticed this happens when I save the level before saving the particle effect to file. If I just save the particle effect from the Particle Effect editor, it works fine. I'm working on more solid reproduction steps to log it as a bug. However, Scott is right about particle effects being expensive. @Carlos - Can you please use the standard bug reporting format: Bug Reporting. This makes it easier for us to log bugs into our tracker and resolve them.

Here is an example: iT2D 1.4 Beta - Create new project doesn't use correct executables.

@Carlos - You don't actually report bugs in that thread. Whenever you create a new thread and tag it with a the bug checkbox, it must use the format listed in the Bug Reporting post. Here is an example: iT2D 1.4 Beta - Create new project doesn't use correct executables.

I've been using lots of particle effects with iT2D 1.4 beta 2 without any problems at all. I'm mainly using the editor on the Mac.

Try to edit the particle file, change something and save it; exit the iT2D and reopen, then load again the particle.

You can use it, but the problem is if you save it. I see the same problem with tilemaps.Try to edit the particle file, change something and save it; exit the iT2D and reopen, then load again the particle.

Carlos - it works fine for me. Using 1.4 beta version 2 on the Mac. I suggest you try re-installing.
