Collada

Do you actually need an Autodesk or Collada app to import the file? Can you just have the Collada file and import it into Torque 3D?

On topic now; As Chris Given mention above, Torque3D imports .dae(Collada) quite well.
Some grunt work will be needed for animated mesh depending on what application your Collada was exported from. Once you run into a problem, many experts are willing to help in the Artist Corner of the forums.

Not exactly on your topic, but Steve YorkshireRifles Acaster , a skilled Torque community member recently shared this link full of great cheep/free applications what to help develop games with. I have not specifically searched for a modeling application from that list what will do Collada, but expect you should easy to find one.
