Merv's Mediums

by Merv · in ThinkTanks · 07/06/2003 (9:27 pm) · 67 replies

What's up, all you out in TT land?

In case you don't know who I am, I believe I'm one of the longest running demo players. Most regulars know who I am.

So Azazel and I are starting a medium tank only game on Wednesday nights at 10:30 pm PST. I can't make the server, so Azazel will. What a guy! Anyway, please join at will! Look forward to seeing you there. Peace

@Az.. I know wrong thread.. but its the same sort of topic..
When you get up and running I want to you host a CTF game.. one we can advertise for a week to get a good turn out.
I am also looking forward to a game of Merv's mediums!

@Merv.. I hope you didn't take offense.. you are one of the only DEMOs left that I like =)
But.. why not! You get all the great stuff without all the hassle.. you can still play a medium all you want!

@About the question of "the whenever Merv chooses"...
My guess is...

386mhz with 16meg ram and a 256 color VGA card.
Am I right! =P
Note: 386 were the prelude to 486 which was basically the same except it came with a math co-processor which gave it a great boost in graphic and math computation ;P
For you really young guys.. all this came before the pentium class you now use.. and your supermacs.

Heh. Don't worry fellas. No offense taken. I was actually being very unserious about being serious. All in good fun, my friend Tank Dork.

Answer to, well i guess from now on it's gonna be question-of-the-smallest-possible-increment-of-time:

800MHz PowerPC G4
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX
32MB DDR video memory
256MB SDRAM
60GB Ultra ATA hard drive
10/100BASE-T Ethernet
56K V.92 internal modem

That's my machine. So Tank Dork, I guess you lose, and no one wins because I wasn't patient enough to wait for a right answer, which probably wasn't gonna surface anyway.

Next question: Describe the appearance and the function of a CPAP.

I realize this is a very bizarre question, but I'm purposely trying to make it as obscure as possible.

Ok. The ol' Medium tank game didn't work out so well. Apparently no one playing between 9-11pm Pacific can host a server due to firewall, not enough juice, doesn't know how, and (here's a good onewrite this down, folks) someone couldn't because he was waiting for pie to finish baking. A pie? Come on people. Who bakes a pie? Really.

So...conclusion....other than the regular time, we could just make impromptu medium-tank games. Any other suggestions? We haven't actually had an all-medium game in about a month.

Or Merv, you could host it yourself:

"If one wants to host a server but doesn't want to buy the game (a situation I don't see happening) send an email to support@bravetree.com."

Tank Dork, I can't believe you looked on the internet. Cheater! So my next question is going to be one that will be harder to find on the internet. Mwahaha!

I'm glad I could entertain you all on the fact that that dude was baking a pie.... Though don't credit me, he's the one who was baking the pie. Loser.

I regret to inform the Think Tank community that Merv will be no more after today. I will be out of Think Tanks for an indefinite period of time for reasons that will be kept secret. I'm going underground, so to speak. I might check back in on this thread from time to time to see how you fellas are doing. You can talk to me, but I can't talk to you. Hmmm...sounds strangely like I'll be in a coma. But no worries, I shall be safe and sound....hopefully. I encourage you all to try to play some all-medium tank games. That way, if and when I come back, you will all be ready for me. Heh-heh.

I wish you all the best of luck. Keep playing.

Question of the whatever (for maybe the last time?):

In A.D. 2101
War was beginning.
Captain: What happen ?
Mechanic: Somebody set up us the bomb.
Operator: We get signal.
Captain: What !
Operator: Main screen turn on.
Captain: It's You !!
Cats: How are you gentlemen !!

What the next line? I'm not sure if this is an obscure joke or a well-known trend. I don't think anyone knows. In either case, this was a bizarre phenomenon. Also, the second part of this question:
What is this dialogue from specifically (whether movie, book, video game, historical conversation)?

Peace.

Too easy for gamers :)

It's a video game called Zero Wing which was translated into English very poorly. The next line is "All your base are belong to us!"

Here is a site dedicated to it, including a shockwave animation of the original intro video which started it all...

(I knew it before Googling, by the way. I googled to find a link to a site all about it though. :) )

You're right, I picked the wrong audience for this particular trivia question. Give yourself a back-pat!

Tally Ho Boston Go. Returned on Thursday. All you scrums are belong to TT. (the originals formerly/formally know as).

Obviously, Merv bought the game and doesn't want to admit it. So he has to play under a different name. It's a shame really. : )

Either that or the ATF has been monitoring TT chat, and Merv is about to go down... Waco/Ruby Ridge style. : O

Either way, his days of stickin' it to the man are numbered.... : (

Hello,

I'M BACK! with computer access (a PC now - what?)

Lagman, you're bastard - a very incorrect bastard, I might add.

Unfortunately I will not be able to play any longer but I will still view this thread and be able to post. I can still do that question of the whatever too if you guys really want.

Keep playing! Long live the demos! (the non-obnoxious ones at least)

" I will not be able to play any longer..."

That seems awfully final.
Got yourself into a restrictive relationship there or what?

Theres always a place for a good Medium on the field.
Come baaack!

No I'm not in prison. No I'm not Medvd.

Man, I've been missing a lot, haven't I? Custom skins...wow! Pretty cool. Not as cool as island hopping, but still cool.

And do I know Baba?

Hey all. Thought I'd stop by to leave a question of the month/week/day:

How many strings are on a mandolin?

Merv

MERV!!!! You are out of prison!!! Woot! Any chance we will see your stubborn demo medium rolling across lush terrains anytime soon?

"How many strings are on a mandolin?"

Too easy: 8. (At least that's how many I counted on the one we have here. Too bad I can't play it though.)

Here's on for you: What was the title of the interactive CD-ROM sponsored by the Dole Fruit company? (If you had Wacky Jacks, you probably got this one too...)
