Crash Bug: deleting terrain textures renders terrain useless - LOGGED

I had deleted some textures from the terrain but for some reason, one of the ones I didn't delete ended up not existing in the terrain. It was still in the list but blacked out in the map. And if I get within paintbrush range to fix it the game crashes. The "No Material" texture didn't kick in in the absence of a texture and in the dds file the missing texture appears cyan.
It seems that the reference to the material I used got mixed up with one I was deleting. But that's just my guess.
So is there a way to reset a terrains base texture without editing it? Like a solid "No Material" to start over with.
It's a crash bug kids, the kind where you can kiss the terrain goodbye and start over (or reload a recent backup like I thankfully did)

My apologies for not getting back sooner, I hadn't tried to replicate it as of yet...
