I like to think of the scrum game as
"Hockey with Tanks" The main purpose is to score goals but there are going to be some fights along the way.

If someone cuts me off and steals my goal,I'm gonna get revenge! If they
do that pull out of goal ,Steal flag , Back into goal, move I may have to spend the rest of the game "Area Effecting" Their brain jar.

Sure, I've got anger issues, but thats why Im playing TANK games and not Tetris.

Now as far as "camping" goes I do not camp. I chase the flag all over the map. Two nights ago I'm playing I'm chasing the tank with the flag all along and about 4 seconds before we reach the goal I choose a different angle and I intercept the flag right before the goal and I score. What do I hear "CAMPER" "WHO WAS PARKED IN THE GOAL?" Thats BS. Do I care that other people Camp ? NO!
Goals are meant to be defended.
If the developers did not want you to park in the goal I really doubt that they would "Spawn" you in the center of the goal.

It's just a different style of game play. Your style should evolve to defeat the campers.

On that particular night I seemed to have been hounded quite a bit by Iron Man and Prey. Guess I must've ticked you folks off somewhere along the game so you came at me. Must've been pretty often because I don't usually complain. Then this thread came up and so I put up the names that stuck out most in my mind that night.

#23 IM you pulled a revenge kill on me today (didn't bother me, dont take this wrong) and I spawned next to the flag with full health. There are unwritten rules of the game. Thats just one that people learn over time.

I've played Sherm (and many others) too many times to mention. Alot of us (like Sherm) play the flag and prefer a faster scrum game based on skillz thats all. We get to shoot each other enough that way to really ever consider revenge for a lost goal or a kill. That would be silly.

In scrum, for me , the only revenge is to score a goal. The best players I've seen play that way. I choose to do the same. I just have more fun that way.

#26 Revenge killing is just silly. If someone steals the scrum and scores they did their job.
"If someone cuts me off and steals my goal,I'm gonna get revenge!" Then that person gets revenge back, and its battlemode time, back and forth. This just makes the game suck. It is still tanks and shooting without this stuff. Talking about self appointed referees is missing the point. We have here a community of players who are talking about the quality of their gametime. People who are hell bent on revenge ruin a good time for the other players. People who have been here for a long time know how fun a scrum game can be without the "your mama sucks" mentality.

#27 PS: Tankster (now #1 Tankster) is getting alot better. His game has improved and so has his behavior. He'll still wound you just for being competition though.

#28 I've been playing many TeamScrum games lately and everyone's behavior was great.
TeamScrum is the best. Battlemode is ok in it, so is 'back-stabbing' (i.e. killing the guy in front of you while going toward the scrum). Revenge killing is allowed and fun and camping and goaling is a necessity - the goal must be defended.
Cliff-diving suicide still is a bad thing to do, but I haven't seen too much of it in Teamplay. Even PREY, once a notorious cliff-diver, is now better (mb because of PreyKiller? ;) ).
It helps to talk to our fellow tankers; we all define our community standards for the best gaming time possible!

#29 #1 Tankster is still rather obnoxius but most newbies are when they get a good run. Last night was Demo city and they spent most of thier time in the scrum chasing each other.

#35 Heh. You guys don't get it. The name PREY was choosen to be obnoxious.

Also cliff diving was exposing a bug in the program. Soo serious in game playing. Have some fun. If you have the ball, drop off, you have the ball in your vicinity next play with an easy score. In a scrum, all against everyone, it was very useful to drop the campers.

I've reformed somewhat.

Also, putting the hurt on better players was my way of getting an edge.
Team scrum is actually better. Less campers ...
