Oooh, tempting. But I seem to make enemies easily enough already....suffice to say, if I pop you while yer camped in the goal, you're on my list.

I'm pretty uncomfortable with the compiling of blacklists. (Not that anyone asked, of course.)

I've played against both these guys a time or three, and I don't recall any problems. Were they being abusive or sabotaging the game in some way?

Heh heh Wal I'm on that list too.

Maybe seperate threads for the 'Campfire Girls' and another for the 'Annoy Scouts'(American humor here).

Gromit, I hear ya on calling out names. Most of us get frustrated with just a couple of players. We all know who they are. If you play an evening game these days you'll see what Tally means no doubt.

What gets me is those that single me out & play my tank rather than the flag (ala battlemode). Or,do things like get my real name off my email here & attach epitaths to it in chat. As well as those that spend the entire game in the shimmering green light of the goal. NEVER chasing a flag. I dont mind those in the vicinity the goal that come forward (spawns there are common).
For me the game dictates many strategies to win. This I undertand. However getting dissed with cheap shots (verbal & playwise) just ruins the game & seems to keep alot of good people off the server.

With new people comming in everyday it's always gonna be that way. I think kindly reminding them during game play is the best way to go. Let them know that the word 'class' doesnt just apply to school but to life as well.

Lets hope we get the league going soon! It's a great bunch of players.

Happy 4th!

I find it fascinating how an ostensible game design flaw in Quake has caused so many people so much grief in other, unrelated games. Now, when I play Ghost Recon online--a game that is designed to emphasize stealth, cover, and entrenched defense of objectives--occasionally nitwit self-appointed referees start whining about camping.

And in ThinkTanks, when I cut someone off on their way to the goal rather than rushing out to get in line behind the flag carrier, again I sometimes hear "CAMPER!"

Clearly the designers made it possible to ram the flag off of a tank for a reason. The raucous goal game is my favorite part of scrum. Naturally, sitting inside the goal like a brick is a poor tactic, since a good driver will deftly maneuver around you or tear you to pieces on the way in. Those sorts of players are easy to deal with, so there's no reason to get your blood pressure up about them. Circling behind the goal in preparation for a well-timed steal, on the other hand, is half of what the game is about as far as I'm concerned.

If a strategy gives a player an edge over you, don't get mad, and don't try to persuade or bully him into playing by your rules; adapt your tactics to counter his. As far as I'm concerned, the only illegitimate strategies are those that are NOT designed to win, but rather to maliciously ruin the game for other players (cheats and exploits notwithstanding, of course).

What we have now Gromit is a whole bunch of good players that enjoy the flag chase part of the game especially. It's a much faster paced game and more difficult sans campers with everyone chasing. And for some of the more accomplished guys they prefer it.

Actually, a small group of us play a regular game where we shamelessly camp and hurl insults about it heh. Its alot of fun.For me the humorous aspects of the game & commraderie are what i come for, not the points.

Really my beef I guess is more with the *battlemode players*. Thats a different game. With servers online 24/7 thank you. I'm hoping the now forming league will be a safe haven.

I played that game with you & IMHO you were just playing the field with the best strategy for where you found yourself on the map. I've been accused of 'camping' from the same player, I just dismiss it.

Exploits? Hmmm I still need to beat Tally!

Funny, I picked up this game to learn about the gaming
culture in general, following since release. It's quite the experience. Maybe I should go back to bowling. Naw.

Oh, I think this is still one of the better gaming communities. These things typically are a function of scale. The larger a community gets, the less people feel accountable for their behavior.

Groms illustrates what the point of the list is. this list really has nothing to do with tactics or strategies. just pains in the backsides. people who's behavior is blind to the game type being played.

I dislike the people who start cussing and saying other things because they get killed or dont score as many goals as I. I find it mostly to be the demo players who do this though.

Of course I can get frustrated by being chased and wounded whilst the scrum is on the other side of the map. However I can't care too much since my mission is: I must blindly rush to the scrum, steal it and score.

Campers, goalies and battlemoders are a minor annoyance. Kinda weird bots. Programmed for pettiness, vendetta and shoot-em-all. We almost need such bots.

IMHO to win at scrum you don't want to lose time killing the guys around. One of my TT motto is ' the less you shoot the more you score'. Most people that battlemode aren't good scorers - they're too busy shooting others. I was like that too at the beginning until I realized that TankDork seemed to teleport to the ball - then I realized it was a great loss of time to shoot others after a goal.

Teleporting? Is that whats in your playbook Hugo? Been wondering since I've been chasing you all week lol.

Mr. Spock, beam me to the goal please.

Yeah right after a goal - i.e. a fraction of second after - my attention turns to the radar: where's the scrum? And then I rush toward it. No time to shoot others... Although sometimes I admit I like to anihilate the scorer if he stole my ball and the goal I justly (perceive to...) deserve.

About:
'Mr. Spock, beam me to the goal please.'
you don't need a teleporter for that: just camp and wait! =)

PREY was annoying, but he got everyone shooting at him if he was in sight.

There are battlemode servers, filled with bots. There are not a lot of people playing battle mode, so where to go? As for camping, I don't, but it is perfectly legitimate. Annoying, yes but a fair tactic. Funny thing is, the team scrum involves a lot more shooting; defending your ball carrier, assaulting the other team.

Well I'm now adding the following names to the list as I got sick and tired of them both shooting me during Team Scrum when they were on my side.

Dawson
Daddy

I thought I'd go in for a couple of games for a bit of fun, but they both ruined any chance of that :( Such a shame really as I used to love this game and the whole crowd that played it.

Lol I second that Zoggles. Where did they learn those nifty 'uber' formations by the way? Satan?

When I chose the name of the scapegoat I hardly thought taking out sin bots would encountered! Funny coincidence heh.
