Lighting problem....

by Alexander Sarton · in General Discussion · 04/28/2010 (4:31 pm) · 5 replies

Possible that it is a very n00b question.... but this already annoys me for weeks and it keeps doing that over and over.

How the *beep* do I get a light not going trough the walls. Whatever im trying, and i tryed alot, also on the forums i cant find the proper answer. The lights in Torque keep going trough my walls, when i make a small ugly house and put a light in it, I want too light the sides of the walls too (offcourse) For that I need to increase the light's radius, and that radius never want to stay completely inside the house when putting shadows on, going out the side or half trough the front. I read some things about portals but they dont seem to solve or do anything. I feel really stupid to ask a question about how to use the light in torque... but even 3dgamestudio manages to keep the light inside the walls (I mean that engine sucks for sure, and torque is much better imo, but whats with this lights going trough walls... probably im doing something completly wrong.)

will add some pics to it to show the problem.

Using Advanced cause with basic i don't seem to get shadows, didn't really looked at that yet but i thought advanced sounds better then basic so let me use advanced. Been trough the online docs, only thing it explains about lightning as far as I can find anything ais a video about how to put a light in your game and what settings u can use. But nothing about lights going trough walls and such.

Anyway I also used a portal from T3D, didnt work and before i made a DIF with a portal made in constructor. Also didn't work, so any help will be appreciated :)
