Music to code by.

My current client forbids music of any sort. I'm currently on vacation and hacking away on GORPE with the stereo so loud I'm glad I'm in the country. Which made me wonder, what do ya'll listen to when coding?
Right now I'm listening to: System of a Down, Marilyn, Eminem, Dr Dre and (oddly enough) Reel Big Fish.

Currently I have been into more neo-classical metal. Artists like Yngwie Malmsteen, Symphony X (kind of), Randy Rhoads, and Jason Becker. Then, I have also been listening to Iced Earth, Amon Amarth, some Anthrax, Dragonforce, Nocturnal Rites, Morgoth, Grave, Asphyx, and Napalm Death (I've been listening to them since I was ~10, believe it or not).

While doing the art thing, I've been listeninn to the Saimuarai Champloo and Xenosaga 1 and 2 soundtracks. On average, its Al Green, Earth Wind and Fire, Mos Def, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Marvin Gaye. I recently came out of my Bjork phase...

Mmm... Rob Zombie is great for physics code (high level, not low level junk)

I like heavy metal, but midi and classical music keeps you focused on coding, especially if you have ADD. Its not good to play air guitar while writing algorithms.

These all get me into a really good work zone. I get frustrated when working in silence, but have to keep my office door closed as I've been told I sing along too much ;)
