Just curious but about how many registered users do
you have now? can you tell what kind of return you are
getting as far as demo downloads to buyers?

Bill,

We are not ready to give out sales numbers just yet. The conversion rate (number of demo players buying the full version) fluctuates, and we don't have a specific % yet, although it has been between 2.8% and 1.7%, depending on the day(note that these are averages, as the daily conversion rate is an even broader range).

I should imagine so! That's a pretty good conversion rate.

Have to say though that your 'demo/trial' method is a great one. Not only does it give everyone a good length of time to get hooked, but slowly and subtly nags away at them by just kicking them out of the game every few minutes. It also helps ensure that there are people and not just bots playing online (even if a lot of them are only other demo players) and that removes a potential turn-off to prospective buyers. Had there been no-one online when I was trying it out, I know I would have been far less intersted in the game.

I agree Zoggy. The demo hooked me. This is the first game I've cared to play in many years. it was great to have an initial mac os release as well :).

Things seem to going in the right direction, good luck Bravetree & GG.

That is a pretty darn good rate. What's the industry average, about 1% or less right?

Yes, the conversion rate has been good, but I have stopped checking on a regular basis. The daily up/down and watching the sales/demo activations can be addicting and distracting.

We are very happy with the game. We are more proud of this game than any other game that we have worked on.

The demo/retail upgrade path was a really interesting animal. We knew we could make a fun game, but this aspect of the design was totally new to us, and we are still learning how to incorporate it into the design.

The positive comments on the game have felt really good. It seems the people that like the game really like the game, and knowing that we touched some people in a positive way makes us feel like all the stuggle is worth it.

Back when the game debuted you could be a bit more competitive in a "middy" especially on the scrum side.

What I'm wondreing now when alot of "fast" tanks abound, is if perhaps the demo experience isnt as "fun" as it was a few months ago.

We have been playing with some small subtle adjustments lately that we plan to roll out soon that should solve some of the complaints.

We never got around to posting the 'planned' adjustment path. Some samll but important things were changed that have changed the game for the better (made it easier for newbies), and there are some 'big' features that would take quite a bit of work to integrate that we have put off for the time being.

Thats a good point Azazel, however, the Mids are good tanks and very worthy all rounders. I couldnt go back to one, but thats because I find them too slow (being so used to a light) They have better armour and can be quite effective in battlemode. Sure, in scrum they have a disadvantage, but thats more of a selling point.

Demo (Merv) is probably the best person to ask, as he's more than happy being a demo mid it would seem lol. Therefore there's still got to be a whole lot of fun in playing them.

Wow.. Joe must be talking about me!

I have spent several thousands of dollars on computer and video games over the last (EDIT);) years and I have to say... this game is just addictive.. its old school arcade meets new school ideas! Yes.. I do need a better hobby (actually I have several)but I will be around making you all play harder for a long time to come!
