(Resolved) I'm having a rough first day with TGB (2D)

I decided to purchase TGB and immediately upon installing and launching the program, buttons don't seem to be working quite right. Expanding a list expands the list above where I click, but not the list itself, leading me to believe that something is amiss. Furthering my suspicions, only the bottom 20% or so of the top row of buttons is visible.
This persists after I close and restart the program as well as between windowed and full screen mode. Obviously something is not right and I would love to get started so if anyone can offer some trouble shooting advice, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm using TorqueGameBuilder_174.exe on Win 7 Ultimate (64 bit) at a screen resolution of 1920x1200.

Right-click TGB and select properties. Under the compatibility tab, disable desktop composition and effects."
