Could I sell my Torque license?
by Adrian S · in Torque Game Engine · 06/15/2003 (9:05 am) · 16 replies
I purchased the Torque Engine a few months ago, and it is really great. But my lack of programming skills and team recruiting makes it pretty useless to me. I was wondering if it would be possible to sell my licence to someone that could make more use out of it.

Torque licenses are non-transferable. Here is the appropriate sentence in the EULA that you agreed to before you bought the license:Quote:
Licensor grants Licensee a limited non-exclusive and non-transferable license to reproduce and use only for purposes of making source code and object code for electronic single or multi-player games.

You couldn't use your $100 license. To publish with activision would require the 10 grand license.

that has nothing to do with a box sale.
and if he boxed it himself (somehow)
and published it himself (somehow)
and he dont make 500,000 k a year.
then there is no problem selling the boxed version.
he thinks cause it says electronic he cannot sell a tangible copy
and that they all must be sold online.

Chris the point you're confused about could be read to say "You cannot make a mechanical game". It has NOTHING to do with packaging. The electronic refers to the GAME not the distribution medium.

I have a license, but I'm not really a programmer, I can edit the source code when its clear to me what its doing, I"d be out of my depth to add significant new features or anything especially without help from this site. But my investment was well worth it, I'm getting a game made (nothing special but it WILL get finished). There's plenty of help on the site to get you started with the SDK.
DOn't feel bad about purchasing it, hang in there!
Good luck.

@GoldZero you should post a help wanted ad to look for a programmer (who would need their own license) and use your license to get help from the SDK forums and the documentation so you can work form there.I have a license, but I'm not really a programmer, I can edit the source code when its clear to me what its doing, I"d be out of my depth to add significant new features or anything especially without help from this site. That's the whole point Eric you can't. That language just spells out what you can do with the engine make electronic (i.e. non-mechanical) games.

I could burn Torque to a CD and use it to make an air hockey game. ;-)

That'd make a First Person Pressor or something.

Or just buy a pressure sensitive screen, and make the game so you can press the players to death. That'd make a First Person Pressor or something.
