What gies why is this part of my terrain being darkend?

it seems like unless the face of the terrain is 100% aligned to the sun then it shadows it. there need to be some sort of variance here. Today is the first time I have tried to use T3D terrain or any torque Terrain in about a year and I must say it has been one of the most miserable experiences I have ever had with a game engine.

On a side note the whole Base texture/detail texture system needs to be completely thrown out.

or at least the user should be able to take the base texture size up to what ever they have the hardware to support. "currently it is hard coded limit to 2048 which is completely useless.

the whole terrain system is very outdated. When we started the project we didn't think that we would be using the terrain system so it was a big deal. But now that we are having to use it we are in hell.

also wtf is up with the textures turning de-saturated and lighter the further away?

Yeah, Terrains look not cool, small texture sizes and especially shaded terrain edges(it is hard for me to fix, because shaders are rocket science for me).

it is not just that I'm getting shadows in area that are very obviously lit by direct sunlight. the whole shadow system for terrain seems to be hosed.
