Fear of Floating (torque 2D game). Need some comments and critcs...

Hi everyone.
I would like to show you our first torque-based game Fear of Floating. It is a mixture of few game genres - platform, logic and racing. Controls are quite unique and a bit difficult to explain, so i guess it is better to show then to tell.

Watch the latest video here.

At this point game controls are a little difficult for first-time players (which is bad), but they are challenging and there is a lot of space for individual advancing (which is good), and we are having quite hard time to find the optimal balance of these two. If you have any wise words about this issue (or anything else about this game - art, music, gameplay) I'd love to hear them.

That little poof-ball is adorable!

Without playing, I can't be certain that this suggestion will help. But, would it be possible for the poof-ball to have a "safe zone" around him? I guess I'm trying to say is that he could repel himself from the walls and dangers, but this force would shrink over time.

It seems like it would make him easier to control. Hopefully, as this repulsion shrinks to nothing, the player would be gaining personal mastery.

Best of luck with this game! It looks like a lot of fun.

Actually, your suggestion is quite good, as there is one powerup in game that does exactly the same thing; it is good for minimizing frustration that occurs every time you hit the wall by preventing it from ever happening, but still doesn't help player embrace movement system faster. But, I'd say we are on a good track.

Hey everyone, I need some further help from creative mind on forums...this time, it is about naming our main character.

His current name if Fofislav. His name is the result of a thinking process that lasted whole 5 seconds. It was made up at the moment when I was creating facebook account for him, and i literally needed ANYTHING, so i just wrote down the very first thing that crossed my mind...as the time passed, nothing smart came along to replace it..and i dont want him to stay stuck with this name...that's where you come in...current name consists of:

"FoF" - fear of floating
"islav" - a very common sufix in Serbian names (since, my dev company is from Serbia)

It sounds archaic and a bit stupid (to me), but i wonder how does it sound to people who don't originate from around here. For instance: Vladimir is really a common name around here, and yet it found it's way deep into western culture (Vladimirs in cinematography usually pose as bad guys )..who knows, maybe it will turn out to be bull's eye after all.

Feel free to refresh your memory of Fofislav here (youtube video).

so, any thoughts? you know..on his current name, new name...the weather

When I first saw the name, I pronounced it Foe-fee-slav, not Fof-e-slav.

Still, it's a very cute name. He could go by Fofy for short!
