SOLUTIONS

To the health meter request:
SPARKS, a fourth level of damage warning. Instead of just smoke, sparks will DEFINITIVELY (sp) tell you that if you get hit, you may very well die.
philosophy:
"you can go after the girl who's a 10 with makeup o, or the girl who's a 9 without."
im not sure what that means, but maybe someone can make sense of it. something about the answer being in the gameplay cake batter, not the icing.
developers, players, thoughts?

Just kidding Tally!
Sparks would be cool. Or maybe... Just leave it like it is.
His point is this...
Think Tanks without health meter clogging the screen: 10
Think Tanks with health meter: 3
And we all know.. a 3 with or without makeup.. is still a 3.
Does the batter have raw eggs in it... has it been refrigerated...
What kind of icing... white wedding cake type.. or creme doughnut type...
"Tank Dork has shorted out and been eliminated.. again!"

As for the health meter, initially I was kind of 'for' the idea, but now having played it a lot, I have become fairly used to the amount of damage I have suffered. Maybe somewhere, subconciously I am counting the hits without realising it or something, I don't know. However.. I think its nicer not to have a health meter. It always leaves that little bit of doubt as to how close you are to being worm food.
"I know what you're thinking.. did I fire six shots or only five?"
It always leaves that fun bit of uncertainty as to whether you can get away with taking a couple of shots before blowing up, or just the one - as you dash for goal. A health meter makes it a far more precise science and you can calculate exactly how much damage you can suffer.
I do very much like the idea of a 'second stage' of damage whether it be a few sparks or something else. Maybe an additional grinding noise or something.
As for an ammo meter.. I'd say no again, however the current 'low ammo' warning is a bit too vague i.m.o. perhaps there could be a couple of stages here too.

The girl who's a nine without - every time. Don't let superficiality cloud your judgement.. she wont have the makeup first thing in the morning when you roll over.As for the health meter, initially I was kind of 'for' the idea, but now having played it a lot, I have become fairly used to the amount of damage I have suffered.
