Phantom sky divers

So far I've seen this oddity twice. The first episode was simply a tank driving around on the distant hills...you know the hills past the endless misty pits. The second time was even more weird cause I was chasing a guy (think he had 9 lives) and he dove off the cliff. So I thought great this is so totaly my kill, so I sit at the edge waiting for his dot on my radar to die but it never happend. The dot just kept moving away and sure enough 1 minute later i see him racing around over on the distant hills...
So, what I want to know is how do I do this neat trick? =)

Man, y'all have too much time on your hands. I am glad that this bug is at least amusing. The arrow pad launch to the small island is especially amusing, reminds me of when I was young and we were all jumping bicylces."is it ready yet, is it clear?"

First verified off mainland safe landing: Shoseph
Landed on small island after accidently hitting pad combo.
First verified "controlled" off mainland landing:
-z- using pad combo.
First unverified heavy tank on "pad island":
Tank Dork using sinking launch in own game, then came and told -z-, paco, and mess starting an all night launch fest.
First verified sink launch to heaven: -z-
First verified to "ski slopes" -z-, Paco
First verified trip to big island on cranium crater in light tank: Paco
Using sink launch past island then driving back to it from behind.
First verified trip to big island on cranium crater using sink launch in heavy tank:
Tank Dork, I have been back once since.
Most frequent flyer miles and visits to the most islands:
-z- He has been to pretty much all the islands and logged many hours of flight time =)
If I missed someone, my bad.. I was up all night and things got fuzzy =)
Air Traffic Control:
Cranium Crater is the prime map for island hopping since it has a launch point on all sides of the island so you don't have to drive alot when you spawn in.
The other three maps in the lush series have launch points but not as many as cranium crater and require alot of driving with fewer launches per game.
Frantic maps. There are many launch points in all the frantic maps, but the best one by far is
Receptor Ridge
which has alot more sharp ridges to "sink" into.
The main problem with the Frantic maps is that the islands seem to be uninhabitable, each time we landed on them we died.. more experimentation needs to be done in these regions before colonization can begin.
Spooky maps. Basically untested as far as I know.
"Uh Oh.. this is gonna hurt..."

If people still come in and cause problems, then I shall change the password and will try and notify all those who do enjoy a bit of cliffdiving individually.

Ok.. due to all the DEMO's who just dont bother to read server names and come in guns blazing when people are just after a bit of skydiving fun, any server I create for skydiving will be password protected using 'skydive' as the password. Hopefully those disinterested in skydiving will not be reading this thread and will hence not know the password to get in, and all those who are, will be able to.If people still come in and cause problems, then I shall change the password and will try and notify all those who do enjoy a bit of cliffdiving individually.

@Tally Ho (and anyone else who doesn't see the islands when they play) - The islands will only show up on high detail settings. For medium and low details, the terrain that isn't part of the actual play field is culled out. This helps performance on lower end machines. We tend to err on detail settings on the side of better performance, so you might try setting your details to high to see if you still get good framerate.

First to sink the scrum and leave it bouncing around under the ground: 56kLagMan
First controlled shunt to another island: 56kLagMan (Shunted over by me, -z-)
heh.. definitely, as Joe pointed out, too much time on our hands.

Man, I've been gone too long. I finally just got version 1.02 update. So lemmie get this straight, you find a sharp point and you sink into the ground? Also, Zoggles, is your skydiving server still up?

But yes, fnd a sharp (nearly 90 degrees) edge on the terrain and move forwards over it very very slowly until you start to 'sink' into it. Then just wait and watch what happens! The best map for it is Cranium Crater and one of the easiest places to get results is 'the spike' - a sharp pointed protrusion on the edge of the mainland (which can be a bit of a Bucking Bronco ride).
Don't forget to double check your parachute before you try it though ;)

It's not always up.. depends on what else I've got running etc. I try to leave it up as much as possible when I can, and its usually up for several hours every day.But yes, fnd a sharp (nearly 90 degrees) edge on the terrain and move forwards over it very very slowly until you start to 'sink' into it. Bot's trying to skydive. They aren't very good at it yet:

When he's not playing ThinkTanks, Z can be found helping old ladies cross the street:

My radar can see the scrum, why can't I?:

(Also note the little icon that gives Lag Man his nick.)
The new holographic scrum is hard to pick up:

Z likes the holo-scrum too:

First to fly the UFO to the small island: 56k Lag Man
ezupa.com/thinktanks/Hehe.jpg
I used the two arrow pads to get over there.
I missed on this run, but was amazed at how much speed I had left over. I bounced off the low part on the right of the little island and kept on going until I died just short:
ezupa.com/thinktanks/UFOsShouldJustFlyThere.jpg
It's tough going though since 'Heavy Testing' is Battlemode and other tanks, (especially bots) like to shoot at you.

You do know you do it on the stock cranium...dont you?

I just changed that arrow boost so it ALWAYS points the right way.

No, isle hopping is on Cranium. I had an "Isle hopping classic" server up a while back. I just changed that arrow boost so it ALWAYS points the right way.
