TGB/T2D

Michael, the reason so many people are interested in T2D is because it's being built on T3D Tech which in my opinion is really up there. I don't think a lot of people are expecting it today or tomorrow. I think what we're mostly interested in is an update as to what is going on with it. What features will it possibly bring. And I'm talking features that you can guarentee not ones that are being looked at.
The whole Mantra about buying TGB Pro to fix TGB is not a good slogan. You're still selling TGB as a viable product which has issues in Vista/7 and that should have been fixed by now. Is TGB seriously the red headed step child of Torque Powered/GG?
I'd be really interested to know what game releases came about from just from the binary version of TGB. The only one I know of to date is from the folks at Rake In The Grass but what others have only used the binary version of Torque. Or are most of them done up with TGB Pro?
I wouldn't be saying this if I wasn't interested in getting some results in TGB. I've even asked if there was ongoing training or hell I even asked if Edward Maurina would come out with a book dedicated for it. What I love about TGB is the awesome editor which I why I want to use it but I can't seem to get around Torque Script. I even went through a C# Class, A Java Level Course 2 got fricking A's in both and even started working with XNA to produce a Pong Clone which I got a 200/200 on my final program for my C# Class. The reason I haven't done anything with XNA at the moment is that I don't have the frickin time to program an Editor for it to build a game quickly and even with Torque X I still want to use that but the editor kinda gets in the way of that.
/rantoff - Still Enjoy what Garage Games/Torque Powered puts out making it at least somewhat possible for me to work with it.

So let's address the major issues brought up in this thread (for the N'th time):
1. Is Torque 2D being worked on? Absolutely. In fact, the project was just allocated more resources. A major overhaul of a system is taking place, but we are not at the point were we can publicly discuss this.
2. When will Torque 2D be released? We do not have a date locked down
3. Is there at least an estimate? After GDC 2010
4. When will the developer blog series start again? Resuming the week of 1/25/2010
5. How can we get updates? Through the blog section and this thread. If there is interest in a Torque 2D mailing list, then we might set one up as well.
6. What about TGB Pro? Will there be an update? Nothing official being released by the Torque team.
7. So what about the TGB Pro compatibility issues? We are in the process of setting up a thread/program that will allow developers who have successfully squashed the bugs and supply fixes publicly for others to use
8. What does that mean for TGB (non-Pro)? [b]If the logistics can be nailed down, and are looking into a solution that will trickle the TGB Pro changes to binary users
9. How will you execute #7 and #8? That's what the Strategy Team is for. We will be working together to design and deploy major decisions like this. It's not an overnight decision, and it's not intended to set unreasonable expectations
10. Any other time lines that can be dropped? Unfortunately, no. But whenever you are welcome to join us in IRC to talk about development anytime. There is usually an employee lurking.
Eight years people. Eight years we have been providing game engine technology. We have learned a lot of hard lessons about communication, by either providing too little or too much. We have landed on a decent middle ground by being more transparent about our development (the developer blog series), revitalizing IRC, and upping our moderator staff. We want Torque 2D to be a huge success, but we are not going to rush development or damage its reputation before release.
Any other inquiries will have to wait until the next blog series, or require you to jump into our IRC channel. For now, this thread is locked.

I'll say what has been said in previous forums, blogs, and IRC. We understand the enthusiasm and desire for Torque 2D is extremely high. Believe me when I say our internal enthusiasm matches and exceeds the community's. The lack of updates is an egg on our face (well, specifically me). Melv May is chomping at the bit to post a ton of developer blogs, and we are going to let him soon. I still want to post the major announcements that target all potential users (programmers, artists, designers, etc). However, after each of my blogs Melv will be posting multiple lead developer blogs. That's starting up again next week, and information drops will be more frequent. So let's address the major issues brought up in this thread (for the N'th time):

Your asking for gold trying to get anything form anyone with any knowledge :) To answer your question based on everything I've asked and read, yes TGB is the red headed step child.
Sorry its true....
