install help (can't run Torque X)

by SlowDaddie · in Torque X 2D · 01/12/2010 (10:03 pm) · 7 replies

I just bought Torque X 2D 3.1.4.1, downloaded and installed it.

However, whenever I launch Torque X

"The Torque X Schema File was not found so you will not be able to edit components. Generate your schema file by running your Torque X Project from Game Studio Express."

You have to compile a torque project to use with the builder.

This is what happens when I try to install Torque Builder.

That's really strange. I thought that the latest installers had the 2005 Express requirements removed.

I have a game I've been working on in Torque 2D (not Torque X 2D). I decided to try to get it working on my Xbox360, so downloaded the XNA Game Studio and Torque X (2D).

If there's any sort of online help or if someone could point me in the right direction of how I can do this, that'd be super helpful.

Thanks!

Did you first create a game in VS2008 express or full edition, then build it, then open it in torque builder?

There really should be no need for VS2005 you must first install vs2008 express or whatever, second you need to install XNA game studio, if you are using vs2008 download and apply service pack 1.

After you do all that then install TX2D 3.1.4.0

thanks Henry, what you recommended fixed it. it wasn't apparent to me that I had to build an empty project from VS2008. totally went over my head, I was expecting it to work like Torque 2D. Anyway, I just read the Airplane tutorial and it was right there in the first paragraph. yeah that was pretty embarassing.
