How did you discover ThinkTanks?

by S · in ThinkTanks · 05/28/2003 (2:57 pm) · 30 replies

I'm just curious as to how the posters to this forum found ThinkTanks. Was it word of mouth? Were you already a Garage Games member? Another website?

Personally, I knew a friend who was an intern at BraveTree and she showed me their website. Later on, I got to do an interview with Joe, the creative director, for a journalism project at the Univ. of Oregon. Kind of a weird way to find a great game, but I'm glad it all happened.

Haha, unfortunately no. She's damn cool though. Big fan of RPGs and games with good plots like Torment and Kings Quest.

In fact, I'm going up to see her in Seattle to celebrate her birthday this weekend. Totally going to have to play some Mario Party or maybe even ThinkTanks!

I was ordered to try it out by Dan MacDonald. Arghh.. and I hate him now.. getting work done has been so much more difficult now than it was a week ago. ;)

I have been a garagegames member since I found the sight last year.
I have been following Think Tanks since I first heard about it.

Bah!

Joe, the GarageGames interns demand notification the next time BraveTree gets a female intern!

I saw ThinkTanks last year at the IGC. It only had the Medium Tank, standard bullets, one map (that's no longer in the game), no boost pads, no bots, no anything (just multiplayer). It totally captivated me though and won my vote for game of show. Upon returning home I promptly emailed Joe and repeatedly volunteered my testing services until he gave in and gave me access to the latest builds.

My fiancee's dad is a co-founder of bravetree and was the lead artist for the game. Then I got lucky enough to become a beta-tester, and later a mission developer.

A friend pasted a link to thinktanks on IRC, played around with the demo for a couple of hours, and I was sold. ;) bought it later that same day.

I've tried the demo after reading an article on a french Linux news website: http://linuxfr.org/2003/05/06/12339.html
I've bought it one or two weeks later...
