adding custom .dsq files to a .dts file

Hi guys

On evolver.com i found a way to purchase some nice looking, cheap characters.
But i have to choose between downloading:

A) a maya file where i can create all the animations myself, export the character and insert it into T3D (more work)
or
B) A .dts while which works with torque, but doesn't have any animations. (less work)

I was thinking about purchasing the animations pack (http://www.torquepowered.com/products/anims-megapack) and i was wondering of the .dsq files provided with this pack can be combined with any .dts character?

I guess the bone structure is not the same as the orc rig, but is it easy adjustable? can i even make it work or do i have to create all the animations mysel?

Here's the catch - in order to make absolutely sure that the animations will apply correctly to the bones of the dts character, you'd have to have the Maya/Max/Blender file and re-export the mesh anyway.

What you can do, however, is purchase any of the Advanced Character Kit figures, and they should be compatible.

Purchasing rigs from places on the internet will be very hazardous if they are not explicitly formatted for torque. If you don't, it'll be up to you to fix and repair the rig until it will export correctly.

I mean, TECHNICALLY I think the shape editor will allow you to rename the joints using the TorqueOrc conventions, but it'd probably be better to go back to the modeling app and fix it there instead.

Does evolver.com offer DTS format files?

I have 2 options:

1) Download a .dts file.
2) Download a maya (or collada/3ds max) file.

I've tried both options and both work fine with Torque. I can add my own animations to the maya file and then export to T3D using collada.

But i rather not create all those animations. If i can add .dsq files in maya as wel;, that's also fine by me. I just like to avoid having to create all those animations, while i can buy them for only 60 dollar.

Then what you're going to have to do is get the Maya file and set up the character for DTS export. I know it sucks and you don't want to, but it's the only way to ensure it matches up with the DSQ.

DSQs are external files that simply tell the bones how to move - you never load them in maya or anything. If the bones aren't named the correct way, then the DSQ will cause errors (not sure what kind - fatal or warning.)

If you purchase the animation pack, it will contain DSQs intended for certain bone structures. You just need to conform your bones to the ones it's expecting, and your 500+ animations will work perfectly.

jeepee, I was also looking at models from there, but not sure about getting the animations to work. Please let us know if this works. I don't own Maya or 3DSMax, so those arn't options, but if one of the models from the pack matches and can be used with thier DTS version, I would be interested.
