Is this book on Torque possibly outdated?

Hi,
It's really frustrating and i don't want to abort my experience with torque because of early frustrations. Please help me. Since some days, i am trying to follow along the tutorials in "The Complete Guide to Torque X".
Very good book i have to say, nice introduction to the TorqueX IDE and the C# programming paradigm.
The problem is that i can't compile the games, plus the project creation in XNA Game Studio has problems. Is it because this 2008 book was based on tools now deprecated in the new releases of Torque X (which i just installed) or XNA Game Studio or Visual C# express?
When compiling indeed, many Garagegames class files are missing.
What can i do to anti-date to the previous tools (if that could help me do the tutorials)?
