how close is toruqe x to tge?
by Juan Rodriguez · in Torque X 3D · 01/03/2010 (9:05 pm) · 7 replies
there are little to zero tutorials on the torque x 3d, but there are tons of tutorials for tge.
I bought a license for tge years ago, and was wondering if the tutorials for tge can be applied to torque x 3d?
also on sidenote, can i use dif files with torque x 3d?

If you purchase now yes you do get free updates up until they decide to make a new version and make us pay for it. None of us know when that will be. John's roadmap seems to indicate it wont be in the next year, and that would make sense given TX3 has not been out very long (6 months or so).

The platformer kit is an addon for TX2D that gives you pre-written code for platformers. TX2D is similar to TGB except that it too is component based (TX2D and 3D share the same core engine). If you purchase now yes you do get free updates up until they decide to make a new version and make us pay for it. I think I misread your original question. I have no idea how it compares to the TGB platformer kit. I thought you were asking if it was like TGB itself, but I've re-read your question and see I missed the vital keyword "version".

John's roadmap for TX says we should be getting more docs with the January release, and I really hope so, because even though I've dug right into the code, I still have trouble with how things are meant to work.
DIF with TX? Not yet. I believe it's coming though.
