ThinkTanks Scrum League
by Loler · in ThinkTanks · 05/25/2003 (1:01 pm) · 165 replies
Hi,
I have created a team scrum league for full version users of ThinkTanks (demo users have no access to team scrum so they will only be able to play in the odd non team scrum exibition). I have set up a website for it and everythin you need to sign up is now online. In the near future there will even be a betting service for the league but I'm still hammering the wrinkles out of the system.
I've also set up a system to track player and team stats. Hopefully we can get a couple teams together and have some games in the coming weeks! All people of any skill level are welcome!
The url to the site is:
www.hairy-cockroach-fairy.co.uk/~scrumball/scrum-leaguemain.html
I look forward to getting some new players on board!

seriously tho, work considerations are making the league improbable for me. If anyone wants to be a permanant replacement for me, I'm open. (on a winning team BTW!)
sorry if my absence caused any problems folks :)
see you on the field

The first game saw the destruction of TGS ego's at 14-7 and the shattering of the dreams of a whole generation of young tankers. One can only imagine all the ranting loudly coming from the Boots.
Frazzled and shaken but having not yet given up, the Ground Stompers managed a heroic comeback and inflicted a sound trashing on the self-infatuated Boots, beating their arses with a resounding 21-3 (no I am NOT making this up). The Gods were on our side and no wrong could be done. After the game the enemy top scorers were mute for a whole 1 minute 07 seconds, while flocks of white birds were released in the dying sunset and violons and brass were playing an epic hymn to the winners.
LONG LIVE THE GROUND STOMPERS!

Last Saturday The Ground Stompers (NASDAQ: TGS - Loler, Azazel, Spony, HugoBrain and Wal) achieved another remarkable victory in the face of the formidable opposition of The Stomping Boots (NYSE: TSB - Jangles, TallyHo, Tankster, -Z- and Shoseph). The first game saw the destruction of TGS ego's at 14-7 and the shattering of the dreams of a whole generation of young tankers. One can only imagine all the ranting loudly coming from the Boots.

I wasn't able to play the last game and won't be available for the next one on 8/2. According to the Scrum League website, our poor Highlanders were beaten something awful! Sorry I wasn't there to help out. I'll get back into the games after this weekend.

2 Mes Comrades: I'm out next weekend, golfing and other less frivolous pursuits beckon in los angeles.]
The Bots, we took a bath, but as is the case with all anomolous scoring events, the better team usuall prevails :). It's not a quick run to the goal, but a slow, 3 legged drunken stumble.

Those measly little stomping, or should i say squeeking, bots defying nemesis. THEY THINK THEY CAN STOP THE GODS! Well zeus shot a lightning up there arse an that was that. All must bow to our sublime supremacy!
Anyways i'm off to Turkey for a couple weeks =). Do some stuff, go some places and be a genneral pain in the ass tourist eh. Perhaps the ancient gods will favor this trip and TGS will be unstopable but i dunno we might have to sacrifice a goat or something.
See you all on the 16 - spony

In a strange twist of fate.. I am able to sub for Spony at 2pm PST but cannot make my own game at 4pm PST due to having to work. Anyone willing to sub for me, please do."Why can't I be independantly wealthy?"

I can replace you at 4 - without, of course, your Midas brakes and other-worldly swiping abilities.
Clax,
I'll talk it over with Tanky about your position as substitute. I foresee no problems since you have been deemed TT ROOKIE OF THE MONTH and are mutating into a real scoring threat. Tally Ho, as you may know, is considered a deity in our galaxy and replacing him with just "anybody" is like substituting PeeWee Herman for Barry Bonds or Ronaldo.
To The League,
I'm thoroughly enjoying this event and wish to thank Loler for organizing it. Aside from a few personality conflicts, everyone is extremely cordial - almost to the point of making me puke. However, I don't believe the onus should be on the team with all members present to drop one for the sake of another team being short. Az has already made a great suggestion with the subs -THANKS AZ- and I hope it all works. But with so many new, eager players, if a match has to be 5 on 4, then so be it. Everyone who shows up should have the right to play. Any thoughts?
