ThinkTanks Scrum League

by Loler · in ThinkTanks · 05/25/2003 (1:01 pm) · 165 replies

Hi,

I have created a team scrum league for full version users of ThinkTanks (demo users have no access to team scrum so they will only be able to play in the odd non team scrum exibition). I have set up a website for it and everythin you need to sign up is now online. In the near future there will even be a betting service for the league but I'm still hammering the wrinkles out of the system.

I've also set up a system to track player and team stats. Hopefully we can get a couple teams together and have some games in the coming weeks! All people of any skill level are welcome!

The url to the site is:

www.hairy-cockroach-fairy.co.uk/~scrumball/scrum-leaguemain.html

I look forward to getting some new players on board!

Actually, it looks like I got placed on the Highlanders. However, I'll gladly switch to another squad if you guys really wanted him on the team. Let me know via e-mail.

Also: Perhaps the Scrum League website should be advertised via the News Update within the game. We could get a lot more players and teams that way.

Tally Ho: Say what? :)

Ok, Basically whats going on is that the highlanders are being flooded with players :). Currently I have 5 people lined up in highlanders and 4 in the smiling boots. I'm grouping the whole league into 2 teams for game one (which may be just a exibition, I'm not sure yet). Anyways, after that, when we have enough players for another team we'll have to trade some people of the good ol' landers onto another.

Thats all for now, thanks for the support!

quick shot: it might be a good idea to start thinking about rules. class minimums, changing classes, etc.

Good idea Tally.

Loler:
I think that once the Exhibition game is played (or a few more) we should consider placing one or two top players for each of the 4 teams. That way the teams are more evenly balanced.

Perhaps if there was a multiplayer hi-score list in the regular Scrum games, this could be achieved even before an Exhibition game started. Of course, if people want to be on a particular team together, that should be considered. But I'd love to see all of the teams have fairly equal squads.

Dan: Thanks, I look forward to our games!

Ok, I now have equal teams and I'm cutting off the joining for game one. But keep joining! as we stand we currently need 2 more people for game 2 (or game 1 or the regular season) to complete another team (and 6 more to fill all current teams)

Tally: I don't forsee many rules being needed, Team killing of course should have a rule. setting certain tanks for each team would be cool, although it might be a hassle, I'll look into that.

Oh, and by they way, after we fill up the base 4 teams I will probably add the option of adding your own team, but not to the point where there are like 10 empty teams :)

I'm thinking of having the first game at 5:00pm PDT (pacific daylight time) this wednesday (may 28th). If that is a time that works well for people I may set it as the playing time for all league weekday games (I'm also thinking I'll have a weekend one set up as well in the future).

Thanks,

Oh no!

I had to double check my GMT calculations but it seems that 5pm PDT on May 28 is actually 8am May 29 on my timezone (Asia\Manila: +8GMT). lol.

Unless theres a thunderstorm on Thursday, I won't be able to join.

Of course, I'll be playing on the weekend games though.

:D

Sounds good Loler.

Well PDT is GMT -8 is it not? That would mean it would be 1am on May 29th here in UK. Sounds ok to me :) I can think of many far more unsociable times that mihgt have been picked.

PS Bathala, if PDT is GMT-8 then it would be 9am for you not 8am - Guess that makes it even less likely you'll be able to join in :(

Bathala: thats to bad :( But I'll definitly be adding weekend games and I think that playoffs will be weekends only so you'll end up missing less than half of each season... maybe in the future we can work out a timethats works for everyone in the week as well.

I can make that time.. i'll just have to cut out of work early :)

5 p.m. sounds okay. I think I can make it on time if I cut out of work a little early. It's too bad I can't install the game on my work computer.

It'd be easier if it was just a little bit later for us West Coast folks, like 7 p.m. However, that would make it 3 a.m. for UK players. 6 p.m. would be perfect for me.

As for weekend games, I think anytime on Sunday would work for almost everybody. Saturday afternoons could work, also.

That's just my 2 cents. Looking forward to tomorrow's game!

Personally I don't mind it being 2am or 3am UK time (i.e. 6pm or 7pm PDT) as I'm a night owl anyway. but I don't know how many other UK players there are and whether or not they would min it being that much later.
